I'm looking forward to 964 finally having a functional robot at the start of the regional.

We are looking forward to Buckeye as well. It is always a great competition. The CORI teams will all be heading to their first (only) regional competition, so it will be a chance to see all our robots in action for the first time. It's always fun competing against 48 and 1038. It will be nice to see the Purdue teams as well. Always quality robots and several mentors who were at one time on 1014 that it will be nice to see.

Team 836, The RoboBees, are excited about attending the Buckeye Regional for the first time.

-Tim

PS - Any recommendations on places to eat that aren't too far from the venue?

I think the Subway is well-traveled. Rascal House Pizza is close too.

Thanks Travis!

How does thie regional rank compared to others. On the premise of excitement and energy. I have been to several events, and some seem rather dead compared to others.

Competitiveness: Above average. We're never the "flashy" regional. Blue collar is a decent way to describe it, I think. Relatively few "superstars", but a lot more good to really good teams.

10 out of the 60 teams will be rookies - a healthy number, and all from Ohio. At least two of them I know will be very competitive, based on their prior competitions. Go Ohio!

Excitement/Energy: It's a big event in terms of venue and number of teams, so the opportunity for loud noise and energy is definitely there. The game announcer is usually JonDarr Bradshaw, who does a great job. There have been a number of emcees at Buckeye over the years, but if Dave Verbrugge shows up to emcee, it's on, although I think Michigan chains the doors at the state lines any more to keep all their emcees from leaving. :)

For some reason, I recall that an abnormally large number of mascots congregate at Buckeye, so read into that what you will. Slider from the Cleveland Indians often shows up.

The Team Social is actually a *genuine* event held at the Great Lakes Science Center, which is a pretty cool place right on the lakefront.

All in all you should have a good time. Thanks for visiting!

I believe in 2007 the announcer/emcee team at Buckeye was Bradshaw/Verbrugge wasn't it? I don't think Dave attended in 2008, but I could easily be mistaken.

JonDarr brings an amazing level of polish to any event. We (2252) and 1990 had the great pleasure of working with him during the NASA 50th anniversary event at a multi-day open house. He certainly "gets" FIRST.

We're all looking forward to Buckeye. Pittsburgh was a great warm-up, but we consider Buckeye to be the main event.

1038 is quickly working on our upgrades for Cleveland and looking forward to some maintenance free matches.

We are also anxious to see some "old" and "new" friends and looking forward to having BIG fun.

Yes. There is YouTube video of Dave in action at that event. Search for "frc48". "Do you want......silver?.......or GOLD??????" :)

In 2008 and 2009, I believe Buckeye used a local emcee who works for NASA Glenn - I forget his name - he does a good job, but it's nice to get one of the marquis emcees from time to time.

This will be my first time back to Buckeye since '05 with 229. I'm definately looking forward to it and the team (2053) will be climbing on the bus in less than 24 hours. Good luck to al the teams and see you at the competition.

:)

2010's super excited to be at the Buckeye Regional again! If anybody at the competition needs LabVIEW assistance, we should be able to help you out, just drop by our pit. It is definitely a super-energetic event.

I'm hoping we can have a nice little repeat of last year :D

But seriously, I'm very excited to be coming back to Buckeye again this year and to see our old friends and meet some new ones!

We hope to have some modifications done before the regional starts that should make us more of an all around threat, rather than just defense like we were at BMR last week :)

Can't wait to see you all there!
