I'm not 100% sure on the CS CE dual major, but it's going to be one or the other. And Co-op isn't going too great. Something to do with studying for AP tests, which has consumed a large part of my waking hours. That, and Facebook...

I heard from a person currently attending Kettering who used to be a FIRST member that A section rules compared to B. You have any idea why? :D Or did I get it mixed around? Was it B better than A or... Now I am just getting confused.

Since it is the rare student who does both sections...there is really no way to determine which section rules. But as a former B-section student married to a former A-section student, I'll just say that both sections provide a top-notch education!

So, let me summarize that for everyone, A-Section is better.* Of course, I am not biased at all ;)

*No, really, there is no difference. I have friends on both sections (and friends who have done both sections). Academically they are no different. Now, each section probably has its own quirks and feel but they are not comparable.

Re: College Acceptances

I suppose I'll be another oddball of the group since I've matriculated at Harvard College...don't quite know what I want to do with my life: I'm a mess like that.

Of those who are considering mentoring in the Boston area, the NUTRONS (125) is losing quite a few college mentors (~7) this year so it'd be nice to have a few replacements. They kids come from all over the city so they're (we're?) an eclectic bunch :).

I agree with the posters who've suggested trying something new and not immediately delving back into FIRST at least during freshman year of college (y'all have till January to decide :) )...But the Boston Regional is a stellar event so please do volunteer! (Wednesday*/set up day is perpetually lacking manpower, IMO)

*tentative

I look forward to running into some of you, with whom I share a common past, in and around Cambridge/Boston in the upcoming years.

Hey I was just looking through this to see where people are going (I'm a high school senior this year so I'll be applying in the fall) but I absolutely LOVE Embry-Riddle and will be applying there!! I only know three people that go there or will be going this year, and one of them I was only acquainted with, so I'm hoping there's a lot of friendly FIRST alums :)

Cool,

And make sure you apply for ER's FIRST Scholarship.

Thanks. I've heard people saying U of M has pushed back their decision deadline once again, so apparently I won't be hearing a definitive "yes" or "no" until next week.

I'm so ticked right now I'm tempted to withdraw my application and just attend Purdue.

Accepted to Oregon State U and LeTourneau U, only two places I applied to. Going to LeTourneau on a full-ride scholarship [I blame FIRST entirely!] and majoring in Computer Sci! Any other LeTU people? Yes, no, probably not? :P

There is a scheme afoot to get me back to my home regional [Oregon] as one of the college-advocate people, next year [apparently these people wander the pits promoting their college...]

I've read the thread discussing the pros and cons of mentoring FRC in college....I'm pretty sure I won't be mentoring any local teams, at least not in freshman year. [Still, does anyone know of teams in the Longview, or Tyler, Texas area?] Right now I'm planning on keeping in touch with my own team, and helping with organization and stuff like that. They've got the boots on the ground as it were, and as long as they get reminded of important things like hotel booking, STIMS registration, and team updates, they should be fine ;)

Usually a good idea to settle into college. But volunteering at regionals is still a great option to stay connected.

I can tell you this as ERAU-Prescott student.... faculty is just... AWESOME. Most of them have extensive prior industry/military experiences and they sure know what they are teaching :) . You will be surprised that a lot of them were prior military officers. And well, this is from Prescott's point of view (don't know about Daytona).

And have you thought of joining Det 028 instead of Det 157 :D ? We have 'better' AFROTC program than Daytona, hehe (inside joke). We are even called "Best of the West" :D. But seriously, cadre here is just fantastic.

P.S. to double(?) your chance of receiving AFROTC scholarship, apply for High School scholarship, as in-college scholarship is very competitive(due to Air Force/DoD's budget issues and AF looks for only EE/CE for express scholarships). Even EA(Enrollment allocation) will be very competitive as AF is reducing their overall personnel assets.
