Didn't make it into MIT '14. Instead I'll be going with three other members of the HOT Team to the University of Michigan. I'll be going for CS/CE. Perhaps.

Good luck Class of 2014, see you in January 2015 at Kickoff.

Perhaps one of the best things about college is that FIRST isn't the only technical extracurricular around! It seems that solid technical extracurriculars are a huge plus on the resumes of job seeking undergraduates, so you might as well pick one up.

But FIRST is *far* from the only thing! There's Formula SAE, Formula Hybrid, Design/Build/Fly, Solar Car Racing, AeroDesign, Steel Bridge, Concrete Canoe, MATE ROV, and the list goes on. Do something else for a while, you can always come back to FIRST.

If any of you are heading to RPI in the fall and have any questions, I'd be glad to answer them. :)

If you're heading to RPI in the fall and feel like completely ignoring Ian's good advice, you can ask me questions too. :D Between RPI teams 20 and 250, and non-RPI-but-still-awesome 2791, there's plenty of ways to get involved with a FIRST team if you so choose. Look at other stuff first though, unless you have a particular interest in mentoring.

Also RPI teams 1493 and 1665 (1493 is the team RPI is most involved with, followed by 1665) 20 and 250 mentors from RPI are usually Alumni from those two teams. 1493, and 1665 actively look for mentors on campus.

I got into Dartmouth for an Masters program!

That will mean that I managed to do NH winter, TX summer, NH winter, all in one year. I think my phase is inverted...

There are other programs as well. I did ChallengeX (http://www.challengex.org/) for 3 years at MTU and it helped me tremendously in getting a job after college. Now its called EcoCar: http://www.ecocarchallenge.org/

I guess does it count, I am starting a Masters in Engineering program at Michigan through the company I work for. 1 Class done, only 9 to go!

At least you're doing the season at the right time of year, right?

For anyone coming to Purdue, I want to let you know about Purdue FIRST Programs. We mentor three teams (461, 1646, 1747), put on the Boilermaker Regional, and do some FLL work as well. We hold a call out for new members in early September.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if anyone is interested/has any questions.

I'm still a junior in high school, but Team 2502 is proudly sending our students to Princeton, MIT, Northwestern, Purdue, and several other very nice schools.

And what Austin means by this is he is doing both at the same time... He is an animal and one of the smartest people I know.
