Pro/ENGINEER CAD Models for the 2010 KOP

Hi, PTC is currently working on the new and updated KOP for 2010 in Pro/ENGINEER. Our goal is to have a more robust and functional set of native Pro/ENGINEER models for all the items in the KOP BOM ready for the kick off in January. Availability will be announced immediately following the kick off.

When I read this topic, I thought: Good luck finding some.(I thought it was someone new looking for the models)

However, now that I see what it is....Thanks. ^_^

Hi Scott,
any idea if the models for this year's KOP will have material properties?

Re: Pro/ENGINEER CAD Models for the 2010 KOP

Yes, that is the plan. We are trying to get all the materials assigned for single components and assign weight values for all purchased items such as motors. Overall, our goal has been to increase the usability of the KOP with more engineering content to accompany the geometry.

We should have everything ready to release on Saturday after the announcement. If anyone notices any missing parts, parts with wrong information or any general suggestions, please post them here. We can turn around any udpates/changes pretty quickly and get them re-posted for downloading.

Nice work PTC on the KOP chassis, especially in adding mechanism constraints and proper materials! Next year I'll be looking for a skeleton inside the top level assembly.

Honestly a bit disappointed that some of the electronics are still neutral file imports, especially since the student edition doesn't have the Import Data Dr.

I downloaded the 2010 kit of parts file and the first cad library today, and noticed that there was no file for the feild. I am wondering if this will be given in a later update in the KOP file, if is in the file and I missed it, or if it will not be included at all.

Yes, we are definitely working on that. PTC did not have access to the field drawings until everyone else did. Hopefully we can get them ready in the next week or so.

Great news. The 2010 Field/Area ProENGINEER CAD model is ready for download! Go to www.ptc.com/go/firstkop to get a copy. The top level assembly is named: fe-00033_top_level.asm

Awesome model, It is amazingly detailed. This works alot better for checking clearances than my make shift bump.

Thanks PTC!!!

Will PTC be releasing models compatible with non-educational versions of Wildfire this year?

Re: Pro/ENGINEER CAD Models for the 2010 KOP

Right now, no. All the teams are only given access to the Schools Edition of Pro/ENGINEER, not the Commercial software. If you are a Mentor with access to the Commercial software, you can just request a license of the Schools Edition to install on your system. Everyone should be working with the Schools Edition.
