I'm now taking Akash's approach, in fact, I'm even looking further. The "OMG there's not enough time left" has begun...

Feel free to use it as a userbar. :p pm me for the text.

It's more visible when the picture has been inverted... around the middle (see thumbnail).
There's another thread on CD about Dave's "hint" that nothing is as what it seems to be... what if this is referring to the hint? Maybe we're meant to look at what is not as visible as the part itself. I could even be that the part is just a means of distracting us from this other thing, or discoloration in the picture.
If this shadow/thing is what we're meant to be looking at, what could it be? I have thought possibly a ramp, or some sort of terrain to add to the field.
Just food for thought :)

Rob.

It has been discussed, a lot!

This is why you should read the whole thread before posting.

I don't see how it would be adjustable. There are two pins on either sides that snap into other tubes, but those holes in the center are for attaching the plastic piece, not for sliding, right?

I agree with you
It is possible that the robots will need to dock onto it, and if the attachment to the robot has a cone shape, it will be very simple to do so without pushing in the springloaded pins

It's maybe where you are going to sort the "cans", "plastic" and "cardboard" into chutes.

Re: [BB] 2010 Game Hint #1

the interesting thing is that the poles look like they ate telescoping, but with the bolts inside there isn't much room for extra metal. This leads me to believe that there may be small springs in the ends of the center tubes, which might be to absorb impact. Also, considering the winter olympics are this year it may pertain to a sport to be played at the games. Also, note the curve in the plastic. Track? Runnners? If it pertains to a spart, it most likely involves skating. The field could possibly be made of ice, but it's unlikely because there would be too much risk of short circuiting. Not the holes on the underside of the pole ends. the reflective white surface most likely means ice, or winter. the underside holes might mean robots braced together, which would reinforce the idea of springs.

This could also be a very large object, and the so called spring loaded pins could be axels.

Re: [BB] 2010 Game Hint #1

If the parts are axels, add wheels and tank treads. easily put on if parts have springs, and it would also mean terrain. and being winter games year could mean skiing...

You cannot start a new forum ... only moderators can do that.

If you want to start a new thread (which is what I suspect you wish to do) then on the portal page you click on forums (righhand link on the orange bar) then select the forum you wish the thread to be in, then click on the 'new thread' button.

My wild guess:

Maybe not related to the hint, unless the pictured item is a syringe, but how about something to do with viruses and vaccinations? This allows for offense (infecting the opposition) and defense (fighting the virus). Could use different colored objects and you could score antibiotics on yourself or viruses on the opposition. Winner is the one with more antibiotics than viruses.

It's a part of the launch platform to keep the robot upright until the solid fuel boosters ignite. Last years "Lunacy" game developed the necessary drivetrain, and now we're going to the moon! Awesome!

Mabye the object in the picture has nothing to do with the competition, but the hint is reflection.

U know at the regional we went to we had complaints about how the Plexiglas was too reflexive so my guess is we r probably dealing with somthing that is reflexive like that. know playing on ice will b hard to do cuse not all of the arenas r on ice most of them are on concrete. so thats improbable.
