Radio Interference
my team is trying to do a demonstration running multiple robots each with their own controls and ifi system but the radios are interfering with one another any idea how i could change the radio channel so they could run together?
P.S. they each have separate team numbers. Thanks |
Re: Radio Interference
Radio channel, for the IFI systems, is set by a block of 4 dip switches. I forget which setting is which channel, though. The block is on the left side of the display, and the channel may be viewed with the OI's "Select" button.

Re: Radio Interference
Is that the only thing to switch the channel?

Re: Radio Interference
Should be. As I recall, the display you'll be looking for is "cXX", where "XX" is the channel. 40 was the default, IIRC.

Re: Radio Interference
There are instructions somewhere on this forum, and elsewhere. I haven't time to search for them, but they are definitely there.

Re: Radio Interference
To enable the alternate channels on an IFI operator interface from 2005-2008, you have to have the team number set to a value of 2048 or higher, so that the most significant bit is a one. (If you change the team number to meet this requirement, remember that you'll have to tether the robot so that the RC can recognize the change.)
Here is what my cheat sheet says about the channel dipswitch settings: Code:
1 2 3 4 Channel |
Re: Radio Interference
Also a note: Two of those channels interfere with each other (although i can't for the life of me remember which two). At off season mini competitions, we FREQUENTLY ran into that when running 6 robots on the field at a time - 1 or two robots would become disabled seemingly "randomly", causing much frustration.
