Re: RoboProm 2010
Hey everyone,
I've been answering all the emails for RoboProm and there are a few common questions I thought I'd post on here. Q: Are chaperons free? A: We are trying to keep all of our rules/requirements the same as last year so yes, chaperons are free. However, this is meant to be helpful for those parents/mentors/advisors that are there to chaperon (not that we don't expect them to dance, because we certainly do!), not a discount for non-team members. Q: How long does the event last? A: Doors open at 7pm and close at 11pm. We are assuming that most teams will have groups large enough to walk back to their hotel at 11. If not, please make sure you have some sort of chaperon or get together with another team to walk to the Marta. Q: At what time exactly does the price increase to $20? A: The price is $15 all day Thursday and will only increase to $20 if you are purchasing tickets at the event. Q: "We will be traveling from the Marriot Marquis. Do you have Marta information it looks like we go south towards Underground Atlanta, do you know the name of the stop?" (This was a specific question from a mentor and I'm sure other teams are staying here.) A: Yes, you can take the Marta from the Georgia Dome or from most hotels (Marriot is definitely one of those). Take the Marta from the Peachtree Center station to the Five Points Station. By the way, thus far, 32 teams have sent us an RSVP. How cool! If your email hasn't been answered for some reason, send another with RoboProm in the subject line. They tend to disappear... Hope this helps! |

Re: RoboProm 2010
I have some good news and some bad news.
First the bad news... I will not be making an amazing roboprom dress out of field matierials. This is because I will not be attending robo prom this year. In fact, I will not be in Atlanta this year. Now the good news... I was awarded with the honor of being the Delaware New Century Scholar. The award ceremony takes place during championships in Seattle, Washington. Thus is why I am not attending roboprom nor championships. Have fun everyone and good luck to all the teams going! |

Re: RoboProm 2010
The kids on Team 341 had a great time. Thanks again to the students and mentors of Team 399 for putting this together.
It is very important to have fun activities like the Robo-Prom when you travel. Not only is it something fun to do, but it actually helps with recruiting and retention. The kids come back to school from the Championship telling their friends, just how much fun they had at robotics. Nice event! Good times! |
Re: RoboProm 2010
I was only there for about 15 minutes this year, so I can't honestly evaluate the event, but having to walk so close to a Tea Party was not one of my favorite things to do. Hopefully next year the Omni won't fill up right away so that these long walks can be avoided.

Re: RoboProm 2010
2010 was my first time going to RoboProm and I had a blast. Thanks to everyone from 399 that had a hand in putting it on!
(Btw, my Senior Prom date was offended because I said "RoboProm, More fun than regular prom) :P |

Also, by the way, my dad is the crazy dancing mentor in pictures 33, 34, and 74 in the online album hahaha. Also, the girl in the duct tape dress in picture 86 is from our team as well! Ah, good times :) and what a night to remember!
