Programming the Psoc
 

We followed the steps to program the psoc.. We got to where it asks us to find the FRC_IO.v2.hex file and we found it and clicked on it.. It should have a FirstTouch listed under the Port Selection but it's not there..

Why would this not be there? Do we have to have our psoc connected to the breadboard.. if so, where?

Also, what is the purpose of the psoc? Do we have to have the psoc? Or is it just an add-on?

The IO Board is optional.
It gives you the option to makeup your own specialized control switches and dials.

The board must be connect to the Classmate via the USB cable that came with it.
If you still are not able to find the connected IO board means you must reinstall the sw from the disk that came in the hard-plastic box that the board came in.

Mark - we at team 533 found the same problem with not finding the board on the port selection list when going throught the procedure. Reinstalling software on the classmate from a CD is not too palatable. Would it be safe to install the Cypress software on a second PC, move the hex file over from the Classmate with a thumb drive, and reprogram the Cypress board on the second PC?

Hi Neil,

It's even simpler than that to accomplish.
If you still have the first DriverStationUpdate1.0, the Cypress software we need was included in that.

The installer, however, has an issue that requires you to run it one time to Uninstall the Cypress s/w, then run it again to install the s/w.

For some reason the installer won't reinstall the original version because it doesn't "own" it, but it will remove it if you ask.

The issue with the dashboard part of the installer was that we had to branch the code so that we could beta test with the stock dashboard, and thus we built and shipped a number of images which bumped the version automatically each time.

Just prior to kickoff, we needed to build the dashboard for 2010 with game specific stuff in it. Because of the project branch and automatic version settings, the "new" 2010 dashboard had a version number older than the one already on the machine. Oops. And so much for automatic features.

The latest Driver Station installer has no problems at all.
I tested it on a virgin Classmate last night and the newest Dashboard as well as the Cypress sw, magically appeared and worked without a hitch.

Greg and Doug and crew fixed all that, so you no longer have to go through the uninstall step.
