Woody Flowers Award 2010

Did the requirements for the woody flowers award change at all from 2009 to 2010? I am wondering because I cannot find 2010 requirements anywhere! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mitch Guzman

Look for the pdf on the *Woodie* Flowers Award. Please note correct spelling - I'm thinking your mentor essay would have a better chance of being seriously considered if you start by spelling his name right. :)

While we are on the subject...

There is simply no reason for any team to not nominate one of their mentors. This is spectacular award and simple way to give back to your mentors. As a reminder (from the above link document)

Submission Deadline
The Woodie Flowers Award entries are due by 11:59pm EST on Thursday, February 18, 2010.

Entry Process
Students enter their candidate through the FIRST Student Team Members Information System https://my.usfirst.org/frc/goteams/site.lasso

Also, how many students from a team should submit an essay? Is it a combined effort of the team, does just one student submit an essay, or do multiple students each submit a different essay?

Thanks,

Mitch Guzman

And one more thing, our mentor is going to be the regional director of the Salt Lake City Regional. He is still an active mentor as well, but is the regional director exempt from nomination?

Thanks,

Mitch Guzman

Just a note, there is an edit button on each post you make for just this type of situation.

1 entry, 1 essay. How you write the essay is up to you. You may find http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles...2010%20WFA.pdf useful

As for your mentor also being the regional director, if GDC members like Dave Lavery (2005 WFFA winner, Chesapeake Regional) are not immune from nomination, then regional directors certainly aren't.

He is definitely eligible for nomination. The winner from the Minnesota Northstar Regional last year was the Regional Chairperson, Mark Lawrence.

Can someone answer this question for me? If you are applying for the Chairman's and the Woodie Flowers Awards and you are attending two regionals, do you have to apply for them at the same regional or can you apply for one at each? Thanks for your time!:)
