spacer or no spacer for plaction wheel
 

Hi, We just purchased a set of plaction wheels from Andy Mark and realized that the sprocket that comes with the kit of parts fits, but if the chain were to run on the sprocket the links will touch the plastic hub of the wheel.

If seems that a spacer is required between the sprocket and the wheel. Have any of you had the same experience?

If so, do any of you know a place other than andymark that would sell spacers?

Hey Windell, long time no see/chat! Hope everything is going well with you and your team.

For a spacer for that, the AndyMark one is probably easiest, although you could also use individual ones such as part number 9510A742 from McMaster Carr.

You can also make some even just with basic tools. Cut some out of 1/4" polycarb with some hole saws, and print out a 1:1 scale template to drill the bolt holes. Just try to keep everything as centered as possible so your chain tension isn't affected when the sprocket rotates.

When using #25 Chain, you will need a spacer between the sprocket and the wheel, but you should be alright if you're using #35 chain.

I also recommend andymark for the spacers, but you can fabricate them out of almost anything.

It depends on your sprocket diameter. The 22 tooth (#35) sprockets definitely need a spacer; the 28 tooth ones do not.

34 tooth is the smallest possible when using #25 chain on a plaction wheel.

Your best bet, purchase a $4 sprocket spacer from AM.

We just used a couple of nuts as the spacers.
