Re: pic: What is that for?
Do I detect a worm gear =O My guess it's for elevating the robot?
|
Re: pic: What is that for?
Plenty of power to lift maybe two robots at the tower? What is the reduction ratio - about 144:1? I'd be a little concerned about the OD of the output shaft.:)

Re: pic: What is that for?
That looks like a dog shifter not an output shaft.

Re: pic: What is that for?
My guess: this is not part of a lifting mechanism.
Hmm, what might you want a lot of torque to draw back, yet can't backdrive until you pop out a clutch? |

This is the transmission for our kicker. The tricky part was getting a dog gear that fit the worm gear, so we had one of our mentors custom machine one out for us. |

Re: pic: What is that for?
Sorry, I meant the dog gear, not the worm gear, still pretty cool though.

Re: pic: What is that for?
What are you using to make your kicker spring loaded? how long does it take for the kicker to reset?
|
Re: pic: What is that for?
i don't know LOL

Re: pic: What is that for?
Very nice! I wish my team had the ability to machine a custom gearbox like that. I hope you'll be at the Saint Francis pre-ship scrimmage so I can get a chance to see it in person!
