I may be wrong, but if that is your main bumper i thought the only contrasting color that could be seen would be the team numbers. If that velcro was blue then maybe but not sure. Also in your other picture, don't you have to take bumpers off any way to change color? If yes, why not have second set?

if you are using velcro to hold your bumpers on you are going to have some major issues

I think they are using the velcro to hold the bumper covers on ... and I think they will have major issues with that as well.

Like <R07-I> explicitly saying you shouldn't use Velcro.

I. BUMPERS must attach to the FRAME PERIMETER of the ROBOT with a rigid fastening system to form a tight, robust connection to the main structure/frame (e.g. not attached with Velcro). The attachment system must be designed to withstand vigorous game play – nut and bolt fasteners are recommended. All removable fasteners (e.g. bolts, locking pins, pip-pins, etc.) will be considered part of the BUMPERS.
Since I was talking about bumper covers and not the bumpers themselves, <R07-I> doesn't apply.

... and as I said, I still think they will have major issues.

Take a look at the other picture of the velcro bumpers. This one, probably OK. The other one shows what appears to be Velcro as an attachment for the bumpers--if it isn't, you've got the entire perimeter of the plywood with about half an inch to an inch of Velcro to attach to.

Ahhh, Now I see where you are coming from.

If picture 1 is an attachment to the frame then it is not secure enough and will not/ should not pass inspection.

If picture 1 is just the cover attachment and we are not yet seeing the frame attachment then they should be within the rules (although I'd still be concerned about the covers coming partially off and incurring penalties, etc).

i hope you guys arent thinking we're gonna use velcro to put the bumpers on the robot. We plan to use the velcro for the bumper covers. ideally making two sets would be the plan but we probably will not have enough room for two sets when we fly to regionals

OK, you're probably good, unless it comes off mid-match. Just that a) there wasn't anything obvious to say otherwise and b) this would have been a good thing to note in the caption of the picture, something about "For attaching covers to the bumpers".

Do most people feel that velcro attached on the outside/seen part of bumpers are legal? I didn't see anything in rules against it or a specific Q&A about it.
