How to Combine Dashboard and Main Program?

 How do you combine the FRC dashboard projects with the main projects? I have all the buttons lined out but don't know what to do with them. Should I open them all and just attach them to robotmain.vi? Should I just specify their channels and will they input into the values used by the program? I'm confused. Do I have to ever put my main program into my dashboard program?

Simple answer: don't combine them.

The Dashboard runs on the PC. The robot program runs on the cRIO. They do not get mixed together. They do not share code. You just have to make sure to keep them coordinated if you're changing what is included in the data stream. The data expected by the Dashboard needs to match what the robot is sending.

Re: How to Combine Dashboard and Main Program?

They are two separate programs that just happen to communicate with one another.

The Dashboard code and the Robot code are not combined, although they can be placed into the same project. It's just as easy to keep the projects separated.

If you do combine them into the same project, then they are still separated by the target platform. The Dashboard goes under "My Computer" and the Robot code goes under "RT CompactRIO Target"
