What type of Solenoid Connectors are these?
1 Attachment(s)
::safety:: We are using solenoids this year and we were wondering on what part or connector this is and how to wirer it up for the solenoid breakout on the cRIO.:D :D :]

Re: What type of Solenoid Connectors are these?
Looks to me like the connector off a FESTO valve.
As i recall, you have to connect pins 1 and 2 to power and ground. Apply power, solenoid activates. There should be a diagram on the side of the valve showing this. |
Re: What type of Solenoid Connectors are these?
are you sure its not applying ground to the actual ground pinout and depending on if you apply voltage to either 1 or 2? thats how the solenoid works?? like- it moves 1 way if you apply volt to 1 and the other way if you apply volt to 2?

Re: What type of Solenoid Connectors are these?
I've never seen a FESTO double solenoid. all of the FESTO valves we've received in KOPs over the years have been single action (power on makes it go one way, power off makes it return)

Re: What type of Solenoid Connectors are these?
Hi I am the same guy who posted the question. Ok, after some research they are called DIN connectors but these are connected to regular solenoid valves. Not the ones that look like D-pieces or pie pieces. But there are three pins and I just want to know how to hook it up so it puts in air one way and then opens the valve to allow air to exit the piston. Any help is taken into consideration.

Re: What type of Solenoid Connectors are these?
In our case we tried to hook ours up by the wiring diagram, but it did not work. I suggest getting battery or two in series if you need 24v.
Run a wire from the positive and negative poles of the battery then try different combinations. I have yet to burn up a solenoid using this method and it is quite effective. It should light up and give a noticeable click when you have it right. |
Re: What type of Solenoid Connectors are these?
Ok but I believe they are not 24v but yea I will try it later.

Re: What type of Solenoid Connectors are these?
ok cool thanks i get it... i think lol. appreciate the help. so what your saying is that reversed polarities won't burn a solenoid? thats suprising news. another question is where do they get plugged into? the sidecar? through a spike relay? or into the digital I/O? I'm a member from the R/C days of FRC. this is all kinda new to me
