Battery Question
I know the two batteries which we can use in the competition (the MK & EnerSys) But when we received the extra batteries we purchased we found that though it had the same model number it was a different variant of the EnerSys NP 18-12. The battery that cam in the KOP was the EnerSys NP18-12B the one we purchased were the EnerSys NP18-12 BFR which stands for Flame Retardant(the case is flame retardant) The only difference between this battery and the KOP one is that the case is flame retardant. Every other spec is exactly the same(the battery looks identical "inside" and out). I would post this in the official Q&A but I do not have my teams logon. Could someone here verify the legality of this battery? I am new here so be nice. Thanks in advance!

My opinion? It should be OK. However, my views and those of the GDC have differed in the past... Mike |
Re: Battery Question
Talk to your mentor for getting the team login in Tims. If your mentor doesn't know what that means, PM me and I'll try to help you out, especially since our team's like a 10 minute drive to you guy's. Otherwise, try contacting our regional director, Ken Rosen. Also PM me if you want his email, but your mentor should hopefully have his email, too. But hope it gets answered!
Thanks, Keehun |
Re: Battery Question
I can post this question to the Q&A now so you guys can hopefully get an answer as fast as possible.
EDIT: <R04> specifies an NP 18-12 and makes no mention of B or BFR so you should be fine, but I will ask on the Q&A to verify. |

Re: Battery Question
The GDC has responded, any Enersys NP18-12 battery is acceptable:
