Re: New Showcase render of team 639 robot!

I'm going to make another one soon. The next iteration will include. Treads with the teeth/nubs, treads properly routed around the drive wheel, and electronics.

If it is not obvious, the spinning kicker is controlled by pneumatic pistons to slide it in and out of the plexi gate.

By utilizing an encoder on the spinner and the time it takes for the pistons to deploy we can choose where the spinner hits the ball as well as how fast its going at that time. (we can do high and low shots-even though its a spinner!. This gives the advantage of a spinner with the precision control you would get from an adjustable foot style kicker)

(Cutting the inside geometry for the gate would not be possible without our new CNC laser cutter! FTW)

Heres another rendering. It was done in inventor and not showcase but looks great nonetheless.

Much more complete:

could you try to be a little more mature? That choice of word is not at all "professional"

your second render fixed my question...
I was looking at the drive hub and thinking "that will never work like that"...but you fixed it :)

that looks amazing...
I wish our autodesk inventor 8 could render like that

scratch that...I wish we had COMPUTERS that could render AT LEAST HALF of our robot in autodesk inventor 8 :|

You should be able to get Inventor 2010 through the www.students.autodesk.com website

also if you have a computer that meets the system requirements for Showcase 2010 (the only major one is a videocard with 512 mb of memory) You can get that too. Its what I used for the first one.

If you're interested/able to get the CAD to us, we'd be glad to do some renders for you. We've got two beastly machines that Nvidia donated to the team, so if anyone wants some nice renders done, hit us up.

Also, WOW that is a nice robot CAD!

Here is one I made just now that does not include the bumpers. It definitely gives a better view of the internals

Just a small update on this baby: We will be lowering the roof to go under the tunnels now. Our "over the bump" approach failed with a resounding crash (literally). Our entire team had an epiphinay, that our robot was only 18 inches tall, and only a little more shaving off could put it under the tunnel. It also solves our weight deficit of 14 lbs, because all of our bump-traversing gear can now be taken off!

One thing you might have missed in those shots: on the edge of the frame around the kicker system there are 3 IR sensors. We are using those to detect how centered a ball is in our kicking system and displaying that on our dashboard. Hopefully combined with the camera that will give us some good aim on where the balls are going
