CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Last week of build or not, I expect a spike of activity.
The scores after the last round: Code:

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
"I dropped my official piece of paper through the ramp."
"Drat! Now how are we to tell if 293 is actually on the top?" "We could get the field crew to open up the ramp." "Nah, too much trouble. We'll just eyeball it and get another piece of paper." "Are you sure? They told me that they had a very limited supply, unlike those darn bins." "Oh, right. Hey, let's get a fragment from the next bin that breaks beyond repair. It'll be faster than either opening up the ramp or getting another piece of paper." |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Although the minituration ray is cool, it only made their opponent smaller, the robot is still on the ramp.

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
The referees volunteer their bodies in the newest safety video. Here, they demonstrate the dangers of putting your head into the robots while running. Warning: those who are squeamish may want to look away.

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Ref 1: "I lost one of my contacts."
Ref 2: "We can't stop the elimination rounds so you can find it." Ref 1: "What if we pretend we are trying to determine if this robot is on the platform until I find it." Ref 2: "OK, works for me." *25 minutes later* Ref 1: "I found it." Ref 2: "Great." Ref 1: "So is this robot on or off the platform?" Ref 2: "I don't know." |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
"I'm smaller than the robot."
"No, I am." "I'm way smaller than you are." "No, you're not." "Sure I am." ... ... "Okay, maybe you are. What were we doing again?" |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
BOW TO YOUR ROBOT MASTERS!!!

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Ref 1: "Are you sure Lavery said there was a clue here?"
Ref 2: "Well, not in so many words. But think about it. 116 twice is 232. Subtract that from 293 and you get 61. Team 61 is the Shifters. So if this robot has a shifting transmission, there's gotta be a clue here somewhere." Ref 1: "I'll give you your clue. Just decide whether the robot is touching or not and let's get on with it." |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Two volunteers practice the ancient art of replacing referee heads with robots.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Ref one:
Are you sure we're supposed to check for heads stuck in robots? Why would the GDC advise that? Ref two: You know - it's that precautionary visionary advisory thing. They probably think someone will stick their head in a robot sometime and then the GDC will have to come up with a new rule. What we need to worry about is the stacking. You watch, someone will come up with stacking robots as a plan of strategy. Knocking down stacked bins will seem like child's play. Ref one: No way that's going to happen. Ok, I don't see anyone in there, let's go. |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Ref1: "Why are you kissing the platform?"
Ref2: "Because team 25 touched it." |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Taking the concept of "kick butt" robotics waaaay too far... (ouch!)

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
The "pretend your a dungbeetle" race wasn't very fun.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1! He's down! Winner...293!

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Spectator: "So 25 named their robot Dean Kamen, and 293 named theirs Woodie Flowers? This all makes so much sense now..."
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Woodie's coming out of retirement to emcee again!?! We are not worthy!!!

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
293 robot: "I didn't see any 'Zebra Crossing' signs...did you?"
25 robot: "No, I didn't. I declare open season." *grins evilly (naturally :D )* |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #293
Apologies for the double-invocation of the BIWWTM Rule--I've spent entirely too long (something around 26 hours over the weekend, plus three more hours after work Monday) on a project. It's really cool, this robotics competition some guys from New Hampshire put on. I'll tell you about it another time, though.
