Not sure if it's been posted here.. Team 3132 of Australia has named our robot this year: Wombot.

It's kinda short and fat, stumpy, if you will. And the ball control lets out a real growl. :)

this year we named our robot "Oswald" after the cartoon octopus because our robot is an octogon. the names from our previous bots are all in my signature

2005 - Yoshimi (After the Flamming Lips song)
2006 - Bessy (First year competing as 'The Holy Cows')
2007 - Daisy
2008 - Daisy II
2009 - Daisy May (Kids didn't want to keep incrementing a number after Daisy, so they gave it a 3 letter name.)
2010 - Daisy Bell (four letter name)

Last year our robot was G.A.B.L Gyrascope Aligning Balancing Leverage, named after Gabe A.B. Long

This year we wanted to name it after a famous horse, so we went with Trigger.

We usually agree on a name sometime near week 6, when we realize that it's still nameless. Don't ask me how we came up with them.

Ours is named Lancelot.

Next year I'm hoping to name it after another knight of the round table.

Our first robot went unnamed.
Then came Jared, because he had to lose a lot of weight in a hurry. Mediocre robot.
Then Wilson, because tennis balls were incorporated. Mediocre robot.
Then came Shiela (from Red v. Blue), and we were semifinalists. Were she only faster, she would have been a top bot.
Then came Baba Ghanoush, who we only talk about in shameful whispers.
This year, it is Karen, who kicked so much butt at the FLR that we are all still stunned at how well we did: Top seed, Regional Winners, absolute rulers of the FLR mid-field with a 15-3 record.

...so in the future, all of our robots are going to have female names...

Our first robot for team 3193, Falco Tech, is "Talon Alpha", from the talons on a falcon, which is the school mascot. "Talon I" was considered, but the students all liked the standard military nomenclature for letters instead of Greek numbers.

It's almost as hard as naming your kids. At least you get to see the robot grow up and take on its personality before you have to name it. They both (bots and kids) always leave home with more "tweaking" needed, get a little bruised up in the real world, come home for a little TLC, and their pictures always bring back a flood of good memories.

2006 - Sprocket - (it had about 16 of them on it)
2007 - RampZilla - (when deployed, we had a 16 foot "wingspan")
2008 - Trigonosaurus - (Trigon is latin for ball, our grabber "chomped" the ball, and could go to 10'+ high)
2009 - String Theory - (hopper walls and rollers used a lot of 1/4" polycord and tubing)
2010 - Jiminy Kickit - (smallest bot we've built, has extendable antennae for ball control, and the roller makes an annoying noise)

2010 : "The Green Machine" (The ramp is green)
2009: The Weavinator or The Toaster ( toaster because we were ghost toast, and Weavinator for chairmans)
2008: Glory Angel ( in dedication of an alumni who got in a serious accident)
2007: Gloria Machina ( Glory to the machine, felt like it)
2006: Cthulu ( I dont quite remember why we chose it, back then haha)
2005: Delilah ( The programmer demanded that it be named such or no code)

2005-2010: For Sale

In our Rookie year we needed a piece of backing material for our team Number, so we went to Staples and bought that For Sale sign to use. We never trimmed off the excess and have had the same sign on every robot we've had!

2006: Sargent York (for the incredible sharp shooting capabilities similar to that of the movie, really good movie!)
2007: No real name, could be the Enforcer for placing 3rd at GSR and only playing defense.
2008: Fezzik (from The Princess Bride and how it can lift big rocks:trackballs) and Mach6 (AKA Speed Racer)
2009: Colonel York (in memory of Sargent York and hoping to live up to its sharp shooting name)
2010: Vortex (for the suction cup ball control)
