16bit controllers
We are attempting to use a 16bit Xbox 360 Controller to drive the robot with arcade drive. We have changed all of the values from 8 bit to 16 bit but the program and dashboard don't output the joystick values in 16bit. Is there anyway to edit the dashboard to allow us to use 16 bit?

Re: 16bit controllers
If you are trying to get increased resolution from a Joystick axis, that is not possible. The data sturcture used between the DS and robot is fixed at 8 bits per axis.
Why do you believe you need the higher resolution? |
Re: 16bit controllers
Could you point out exactly where in the DS it states that it is in 8 bit. If we have access to this, we could change the data type like we did in the robot main portions of the code. Is it in the compiled, system portions?

Re: 16bit controllers
The DS code is not provided. Only the dashboard code is.
Making that change would require access to DS code and robot network communication code. Neither of these pieces are provided. Even if you did, it still wouldn't be possible to make those changes and comply with the robot rules since the DS and robot communication library versions are specified by the rules, and verified by the FMS. |
