We've done the servo mount thing before... I think it's overrated. If your looking for something with the camera, odds are you want to point either your robot or a mechanism at it when you find it. Using a servo mount, first the camera has to move through it's motions, then you have to get oriented to point towards it. It's generally easier and quicker to just turn the robot - especially when your robot turns quickly and easily. If you want a mechanism to point at something, attach the camera to the mechanism and rotate the mechanism as you go.

How about half-servo'ed? Only the tilt servo, no pan.

Ditto here. We have three positions. One for targeting, one for acquiring the ball up close and one for going through the tunnel.
