Team 639 kicker videos
Check out the Spinning Tongues of death.
And yes... it is completely safe. http://cms.team639.org/node/172 Stay tuned for another video of the kicker operating completely attached to the robot along with its functioning pneumatic actuation here is a more in depth explanation of how our kicker works ![]() |
Re: Team 639 kicker videos
Nice.. Easy way to keep the ball from going in past those 3 inches.

Re: Team 639 kicker videos
Cool design, but...
and I haven't been following the Q&A that closely regarding this situation... Do those flappers extend past your frame? From one angle in the video, it looks like they do. |

Re: Team 639 kicker videos
I know on our robot, we have constantly spinning intake rollers. They work great but they overheat the motor pretty fast. Just make sure your motors don't get too hot. Looks nice though

I believe the issue is that you can extend outside the frame but you cannot do it again until 2 seconds have elapsed... Unless you have a really slow moving kicker it would appear the you extend outside your frame more than once every 2 seconds. Rule <R16>. states that no part of your robot can extend beyond the vertical projection of your frame perimeter during the match except as allowed in <G30> The pertinent part of <G30> is: BALL Interaction Volume – Solely for the purposes of interacting with a BALL, MECHANISMS that are below the BUMPER ZONE may extend up to the BUMPER PERIMETER, for a period not exceeding two seconds. After returning inside the FRAME PERIMETER, such MECHANISMS are not permitted to re-extend beyond the FRAME PERIMETER for at least 2 seconds. If you have a flapper... and it extends beyond the FRAME PERIMETER.. it can't go out again for another 2 seconds... I love your design and I am just trying to make sure you don't run into something in inspection that could set you back good luck looks like a great machine!! |

Re: Team 639 kicker videos
I think the issue Bob is worried about is that, since your flapper is spinning, at some point it will be fully vertical and contained within the Frame Perimeter. When that happens, the last part of Rule G30 takes effect, disallowing any of that flapper from exiting the Frame Perimeter for another two seconds. Which will happen, since the flapper would continue spinning after it reached a vertical position.
Does your spinning device at any point in its spinning reach a position in which the flaps are fully contained inside the frame? If so, you have a problem. |
