How to program a PS3 Controller

Is there anything you have to do internally in the controller to start programming it in LabView?

No, you should just plug it in.

I don't remember the mapping of the controls, but you can check that in
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Game Controllers
or by using LabVIEW Indicators on the axes and buttons on the Teleop front panel.

With the appropriate drivers (BT or USB), it should appear as a standard HID joystick to windows, with the appropriate number of buttons/axes.
