2010 Regional Webcasts

It's that time of year again. Fill in the blanks if you know who is webcasting the event. NASA has yet to publish their 2010 regional webcasts page.

Week 1

Washington, DC - NASA again?

Week 4

Buckeye - Team 48 - link TBD

I remember part of the Connect a Million Minds Project was to broadcast some of these events. It might be useful to call up your local TWC Customer Service Center and see if they will indeed be broadcasting any events that we may not be aware of.

Re: 2010 Regional Webcasts

As a FIRST community over the next few years, I'd love to see us get EVERY FRC event (at least the regular season) webcast, and posted on TBA.

For the last few years Discovery Channel has webcast GTR (but only to Canadian IPs), but nobody recorded the stream, including Discovery themselves, so it never made it to TBA.

You're broadcasting ALL Michigan events now? Wow. That's a huge accomplishment for the most long-established of teams, and coming from a 2nd (3rd?) year team, I'm just shocked =O

So is it traditional for a team to take up the "webcasting mantel" for their home regional?

I was just wondering on behalf of a second year team (Team 3006) going to a first year regional (Utah Regional).

Sort of. If you're interested, http://robotics.arc.nasa.gov/events/webcasting.php is a good link to go to.

If you can't webcast, see if you can get some form of recording device to the event and record matches that way, then get them to The Blue Alliance.

I have the equipment and probably enough students to help me webcast it and record it. I'll see what I can pull together for a GTR webcast.

I won't be at Waterloo until possibly Saturday, so I likely won't set one up.

Yeah I noticed that too. I was hoping to see a bit of play today, I'm booked the rest of the week.

I think someone was messing with the bit rate, I saw it jump as high as 4k, and even 2k, now it's back down to a reasonable 200 something. As I was typing this they upped it again, to 755kb/s, but it is stable here now. I think they are still trying to get everything set up and finalized.

A cool thing I found last night for those of you with dual-screen systems:
http://lifehacker.com/5419028/keep-f...-dual-monitors

If you are watching a Flash feed (Ustream, etc.), this allows you to put the fullscreen flash mode on one screen, and keep working on the other screen without interrupting full-screen mode.

This is tested and working right now, as I watch the Duluth regional on Ustream.

For KC, Windows Media Player simply refuses to open .asf files. The MORE.net guy was in the pit area, I might ask him about it tomorrow.
Anyone know where I might get a codec (or another media player) for .asf files? A quick search didn't turn up much. This problem happened to me last year, too.

EDIT: VLC Media Player opens them just fine (even has a Firefox add-in!), but only the streamed (which is over now) feed works, not the stored qualification matches.

This is typically dependent on how quickly a team archiving the footage (assuming there is one) gets the video cut and uploaded to the TBA FTP. After it is on the TBA FTP those guys are usually great about getting it posted.

If the video is being parsed in real-time during archiving, it could be uploaded and posted within a day or two. Most likely it will take longer, usually at least a few days to a week.

Or a clearer one, this one is really fuzzy and the blue alliance driver station covers half of the field.

There were no camera operators for the practice day, but there are multiple cameras (including two robotic cameras) set up for tomorrow.

And it looks like 2791 just won

We didn't field a robot all day... so we had good practice partners I guess.

I hope you'll be saying that tomorrow!

Anyone Watching Pittsburgh? The feed looks really good right now...

Btw, anyone know anything about 3138 at Pittsburgh? They sure don't look like a rookie.

(I've also got Florida, Ann Arbor and Cass Tech Open.... But WPI's Not working?)

@ 9:05, Florida's Opening Ceremonies are up, Cass Tech is/was up, and Pittsburgh Practices are up...

Anybody have match schedules and such for PIT?

I'm itching to see 1114's offering this year.

They were on a few mins ago (remember its a 2 day regional so practice matches in the beginning of the day),

You should be itching, they scored 18 points by themselves (20 with lift bonus), or at least that is what the webcast said.
