Still not sure how it works yet... Sent another email :)

I just experienced the same. The support team sent me a different link that took me to the regional in which we were entered ... only two teams (us and another) and when I went to view the other team info, it claimed the entry had been deleted. Sent reply inquiries as well. This site is beginning to try my patience. :(

Yay!
I received the email notice, and the page actually displays all 3 competing animations. (too bad only 3 entered in our regional)
They must have fixed something....

I think they have been working very hard to get things to work the way they are supposed to! Our links are working now also.

Re: 2010 Aimation Judging

I also received an updated email with a "working" link - however like the previous post talking about the lack of participants, I too am concerned that there is only one other team (aside from ours) in the voting pool. This is the Los Angeles regional where traditionally there have been a good number of teams competing. So ...

I've asked tech support to clarify the lack of participants this year ... did teams that did not follow all the rules/requirements to a tee get bumped from the voting pool? Is there still a glitch that's not getting teams entries assigned to the proper regional? If only two teams compete, and you can't vote for yourself, is it a tie (w/ Autodesk tie-break)??

I'll continue posting as the support team answers my flury of questions.

Cheers!

Re: 2010 Aimation Judging

UPDATE - After trading a couple of emails with the support team, here's what I've found out:

1. The system is 100% up and running, and what you see is what you get.

2. In the Los Angeles regional, there are in fact only two entries, ours and team 1515 ... my concern is that I have seen at least three other team entries showcased here on CD and on YouTube ... but support team has confirmed that if they didn't upload or check in with them, they're out!

3. No teams were turned away unless their rendered video was unviewable (only one team had this issue) - all other teams that contacted them were allowed in, manual uploads were accepted, and the deadline was relaxed even beyond the 17th extension to let technical challenges get resolved.

4. We were also told that in any cases where there are only small number of teams (two in our case) competing - that Autodesk would be the final judge in awarding the Regional winner.

5. So according to the support team, what's up there now is final. Hope this doesn't create too much anger out there with teams that didn't make it in for whatever reasons. :(

The other teams may have submitted to another regional. Last year at Midwest there were only 2 submissions, so this year we thought we might try the Kansas City regional. Turns out there were only 2 (including us) again :D

The same thing happened with our team at last year's Arizona Regional. It was so awkward having to essentially pick who will win at the regional :ahh: Hoping to avoid this we decided to enter at the Las Vegas Regional, but unfortunately it appears that we are the only team entered there.

It's disappointing seeing fewer and fewer animations being submitted every year, and I fear if this continues the Animation Award may eventually be judged only at a national level or even fade away entirely. Best of luck to all teams this year, and I hope everyone had a blast creating their animations!

Carrie - where did you guys submit to? I am now able to see ours and Wildstang for the Chicago regional, but that's it. Thought I'd see yours in there....

Question. How is it going to be figured out if the votes end up being tied?

Does any one know when the 5 finalist will be announced?

Re: 2010 Aimation Judging

I have no idea. I think they are going to be posted on the Autodesk website.

Re: 2010 Aimation Judging

Usually they wait until after the last regional has announced their winner, then announce the top 5.
