The issue that I have with the data collection (and this is by no means an attack on your work) is that all of the data is qualitative. Ranking a robot on "aggressiveness" and "Accuracy" opens the doors to errors. If you have 3 different people ranking these things you will get 3 different results.

Where were you when we needed beta testing? ;-) I'll see if we can get around fixing this prior to week 2 events.

I am unclear as to if there is a version that will work properly on Vista? All of our XP machines we use are busy with the programmers, so they are out of the question unfortunately. seems o be a great software that will help the team!

Thanks

New version!

Before install, please uninstall the last version, and delete manually the software's folder.
We recommend to save the team list before this action, and load it at the new version.

Fixed:
Added "shots" input on the "Add Match" window.
Player accuracy now on quantitative method (Thanks to Greg Needel!).

Soon:
New mode for the scouting simulation - movie mode!

Yes, I have tried every version you have posted. I download it, install it, at the end of the installation i choose NOT to run it on exit, then navigate to the program files folder and right click on the FIRST Strategy APPLICATION file and click run as administrator, then it asks me if I want to allow it to make changes to my computer (security alert) I click yes, then it says "FIRST Strategy has stopped working" and then just closes.

I have also tried restarting my computer after uninstalling.

Mentor for 997.

We have a spreadsheet for scouting to evaluate ALL skills a robot displays. We log the data and then use a weighted average to determine the MVBot, best mid fielder and goalie (we are a forward/middy).

We qualified first in the Oregon Regional and, based on our spread sheet we passed on higher seeded veteran teams such as 1540,753,488, 368 etc. and selected 2130, the 26th seed, with our first pick and, not to be outdone, 1515 the 55th seed with the second (61 teams in Regional).

Our alliance captains faith in our scouting team was rewarded as we won the playoffs without loss, barring one dq which we should have won 11-1.

We think this is unheard of in the history of FRC for a #1 to select the #26 and #55, and even more unlikely to go on and win the Regional.

Scouting will be key to this years Championships as picking a kick butt bot to play goalie with the second pick will be difficult when most bots are playing offense, due to the scoring system used in qualifying.

Oh I should mention 2130 is a great midfielder/forward and 1515 is an unbelievable defensive bot.

Would you mind sending me a copy of this spreadsheet by any chance? I tried to set something up like that last year, but I couldn't get it completely finished. I would love it if you wouldn't mind emailing me that! :D

Any thoughts on making a mobile version? 1622's scouting system is designed to be accessed from a cell phone. We carried laptops around for 2 years then came up with what we have now.

I had actually worked out the average rank for the winning alliance from week 1.

NJ Regional - Seed 1 average rank 21
Bayou Regional - Seed 2 average rank 12
Peachtree regional - no rankings were available from FIRST when I compiled this data
Oregon regional - Seed 1 average rank 27.3
Finger Lakes regional - Seed 1 average rank 9
BAE Regional - Seed 2 average rank 12.6
KC Regional - Seed 1 average rank 10.3
D.C Regional - Seed 1 average rank 9.33
San Diego Regional - Seed 4 average rank 15

This was figured by adding the ranks of the winning alliance at the end of qualifying matches and dividing them by 3. I would actually like to see how these compare to previous years, because for at least the last 5 years seeding has been done by win/loss and not by qualifying points. IIRC Qualifying points ended in 2004(?) with the last hanging robot game. But I may be mistaken that was the year before I joined FIRST.
