frcfms Twitter feed down
 

Does anyone have an idea why the Twitter feed stopped updating about an hour ago? I assume the postings originate from each regional and if that's right, then it can't really be a connection problem. Wondering if Twitter blocked the account or something.

It's back now. Maybe someone gave the Twitter server a good kick ;)

You could always just use the TBA API ;)

Twitter is not our only source of info, but it's nice because it provides a push mechanism so our server instantly knows when a new score has been posted, and we can trigger off that to parse the rankings.

Does anyone know of another place where you can get all the information that Twitter outputs? Like mentioned, the Twitter feed went down and so I have incomplete data for the games today.

I have a little program that compares the seeding/ranking between this year's new system and last year's system and am displaying it in our pit, but with incomplete data my scoring does not match the official.

I need the number of bonus points and the penalties for each match and that isn't listed in the regular FIRST standings, or I couldn't find it.

Must be something about 3pm on Friday that causes issues for frcfms.... it seems to be down again. Is that account hitting a rate limit?

There is a 1000 tweet per day limit, but frcfms is nowhere near that, as far as I can tell.

They subdivide that down into unspecified hourly limits as well, which depending on what that is it's possible that that's been exceeded. If it's straight division, that's only 40 tweets/hour which frcfms may have exceeded. Of course, all those limits get raised to insanely high levels if you request whitelisting which seems pretty easy to do. I would have thought that whoever is in charge of frcfms would have requested whitelisting, but maybe not.

It returned a few minutes ago after being down for around an hour, just like last Friday. I'm fairly certain they're hitting the hourly limit. Twitter's API docs warn that if you are rate-limited repeatedly you'll be banned entirely. Someone really needs to get frcfms whitelisted if it's not.

FRCFMS Completely stopped displaying updates for the Ann Arbor District (Event Code:AC) around Match 16 I think.

The other feeds seemed to be very delayed at times.


I would love to use the Blue Alliance API but it doesn't include information like Bonus Points and Penalties...or did I miss something.


I'm with sircedric4, if there is any other way to get the bonus points and penalties information let us know :)
