Re: 2010 Monty Madness
Hey Teams Attending,
Are you going to be coaching your rookie drivers at the event or are the vets taking part in this one? I know for a fact that we would like to try and get some rookies out there but we also want to master Breakaway! Let me know! |

Re: 2010 Monty Madness
We were wondering if teams every had problems not getting their robot back from the championship in time for the event. Our teacher is worried we'll sign up and then not be able to attend. Has this ever happened to any team and is there any risk of this happening to us?
I'm really hoping we can attend again and see some old faces from Jersey. |

I am pushing the teacher on our team to sign up for Monty and we will probably send in our check in the next two days. For Monty it comes down to if we will be able to sign up in time. I am also pushing for our team to go to Ramp Riot and it looks very good for us to attend that. |

Re: 2010 Monty Madness
Well it was a great Monty Madness yet again, I've got to give my main shout out to all of the great volunteers from Team 1403 who are behind this again as always every single year. Although there were several issues in the beginning, everything got back to schedule and rolling once those problems were figured out.
Amazing job all the volunteers, I could see the exhaustion in everyone but they all pulled it through. I'd also like to personally thank Chris Gregory and Nate Knauss for letting me try my hand at MCing, it was a lot of fun and I got to learn a bunch from the pros, to work up this skill. The teams all did a great job at one of the first post-season events and I was very excited to see some intense competition go down towards the end. Congrats to everyone for helping make another Monty Madness!!!! |
Re: 2010 Monty Madness
On behalf of Team 341, we wanted to thank Tim Leicht, Team 1403 and everyone that made Monty Madness possible. It was a great event.
We also wanted to express our appreciation to the many volunteers such as Nate Knauss, Sara Reffler, Carol Perotto, Pete Kieselbach, and many others that made the day so fun. Thank you to Team 103 for picking us and to Team 75 for picking up the scoring when we needed it. You were both amazing partners. Congratulations go out to Teams 25, 303, and 369 for forming such a strong alliance. You truly deserved to be Champions. Hopefully we will see everyone next year at Monty Madness! |
Re: 2010 Monty Madness
Yesterday was quite the day, hehe.
I would like to thank 1403, as well as the other volunteers, for making Monty Madness an amazing off-season event. I, 1676 included, had an so much fun. Great job guys! :) 293 and 1647- you guys did a great job. Even though we got knocked out early, it was still a lot of fun playing with you guys. I hope to see you guys at other competitions! 25, 303, and 369- back to back shows of beautifully made robots. Congratulations on winning Monty Madness 5. You all played very well. Props to all the other teams that made Monty Madness a memorable experience. I cant wait to come back next year! :D |
Re: 2010 Monty Madness
Great competition! On behalf of 1640, many thanks to 1403 and all the volunteers for making it run so well. Thank you to 365 and 2344 for a great alliance, and congrats to 25, 303, and 369 for your win!

Re: 2010 Monty Madness
On behalf of team 75 I would like to thank 1403 and their army of volunteers for hosting a great event.
Also I would like to thank Team 103 for picking us and Team 341 for being great alliance partners. Congratulations to Teams 25, 303, and 369 on their alliance's win |
Re: 2010 Monty Madness
On behalf of Redbird Robotics, FRC1807, I wanted to say thanks to our fabulous alliance partners from teams 2753 and 224. After a grueling 4-match quarterfinal that we barely eked out, we were left with our leftside drive wheel and chains on the field, and the prospect of immediately facing the #1 seeds in the semis.
With a team of only 5 students (2 of them at their very first competition) and no technical mentors present, we faced a daunting task. But our alliance partners helped us make the repairs in the queuing line as the ominous countdown towards disqualification or replacement by backup team was looming, and we were able to make the field in time for our blue alliance to be announced. And although we couldn't quite match up against 25, 303 and 369 (who played fantastic), we gave them a good fight, and more importantly, our students walked away proud from the experience. Sincerely, Chris Nalbone |

Re: 2010 Monty Madness
Thanks to the dozens of the volunteers that made the fifth Monty Madness a success.
While we had a number of last minute volunteer cancellations, we were extremely lucky that such qualified individuals took on those roles and did such a great job. I'm talking about Nate Knauss, Andrea Tribo, and Pete Kieselbach. Special thanks goes to our FTA Liz Smith, our head referee Carol Perrotto, and the tireless Chris Gregory (who just happens to be my favorite FIRST game announcer). Of course, special thank you to the rest of the experienced and professional field, queuing, pit admin and referee staff. And thank you to our independent judges who took their jobs very seriously: John Giardina, Libby Kamen, Peter Torres, Erin Peacock, and our five year "judicial" veterans Ruth Kamen and Michele Zubatkin. On the other side of the fence, let me express my gratitude to the very busy volunteers working the snack, novelty, and lunch areas. The core planning committee deserves a hearty thanks, the committee consisting of Tim Leicht, Mary Kazan, Patty Leicht, Bob High, Tim Ryan, Deb Trohalides, Kathy Martin, Brian van Liew, and Rosy Thakksr-Singh. For FTC, the kudos go to Vince Frascella, while Lego League kudos go to Ernie DiCicco. Most may not realize that Tim Leicht built those beautiful wood and acrylic awards that were awarded to FRC teams (including our five year recognition awards), as well as to the FTC teams and the Lego League teams at Monty Madness. I think they will look wonderful in any display case. And finally, thanks to all those teams participating in the Monty Madness competitions as well as the FIRST and non-FIRST guests from the community. |
Re: 2010 Monty Madness
On behalf of team 103, I would like to thank everyone that was involved with the planning and following through of this awesome off-season event. Monty Madness will surely be an event that will live on for quite some time because of these dedicated and responsible people!
We would also like to thank our alliance partners, 341, Miss Daisy, and 75, the RoboRaiders, for a great run! We enjoyed playing with you guys, and were very glad we picked the both of you! It was especially interesting to talk to this years National Chairmans Award winners and having them talk to us about sitting on the stage watching Einstein! Also, we would like to congratulate teams 25, 369, and 303 for forming an awesome alliance! 303 was KILLER in the home zone! 25 was unstoppable pretty much everywhere. And 369 was great all around! Quite an impressive alliance! Kudos to all of the other teams who competed at this event! It was very interesting to say the least! :D |
Re: 2010 Monty Madness
The best thing about Monty Madness - aside from the facility and awesome competition - was the food.
It is rare to find good food and reasonable prices anywhere, but this was exceptionally good food at reasonable prices. They had coffee starting at 7 am (thank goodness!) and lots of hot and tasty food (including several healthy choices) for lunch. It was really great seeing so many friends, and being able to kibbitz in a more relaxed atmosphere. |
Re: 2010 Monty Madness
Monty Madness always impressed me with its professionalism. On behalf
of Team 369 thank you 1403 and all the volunteers for running another great one. Thank you 25 and 303 for picking us. We were the strongest and like someone on team 25 said, everyone on the alliance did their job well.Thank's again and we'll see you at Bridgewater. Team 369 Coach/Mentor Joe Finkel |
Re: 2010 Monty Madness
On behalf of MOE 365, I would also like to thank all the folks already recognized for holding a terrific off-season competition. This was MOE's first Monty Madness and we will definitely be back.
Special thanks go to our alliance parters 1640 and 2344. Thanks for partnering with us in the elims! It was a short, but fun ride! Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable finish to the school year! |
