Re: pic: 1114 hanging around
I cant help but ask if you have enough red in the picture?
I really like the robot a little curious to see how your hanging mechanism actually works though do you possibly have a link or some other media that shows it? Looks great though |

Here's a video of 1114 in the Pittsburgh Finals. It starts around 9:00.

Absolutely gorgeous mechanism. It's definitely near the top of my list of things I wish I had thought of 8 weeks ago (right next to 469's scoring loop bot.)

Re: pic: 1114 hanging around
1114 Had one of those mechanisms where, when they first deployed it and hung in like 4 seconds, everyone in the crowd was thinking - "that was easy, why didn't we think of that....!". It never ceases to amaze me how 1114 is consistently able to come up with simple, elegant, bullet-proof solutions to the FRC challenges, congrats to them!

Very cool. Is 433 suspended?!?! Anyone else seen any successful 2nd/3rd robot SUSPENSIONs, and have pics?

Re: pic: 1114 hanging around
In florida 1902 was allianced with 343 Metal in Motion and 1144. We attempted a double hang. Both robots were up at the end of the match but 343 had a pneumatic that shut down and the back of there robot dropped below the plain of the platform even though it was clearly above the plain at the end of the match. Our robot got the 2 points for the hang and we won the match 7-3 almost 9-3.

Re: pic: 1114 hanging around
Easily the most impressive scoring device at Pitt Regional. Too bad we never got to hang together :D .

Re: pic: 1114 hanging around
What kind of wheels are they using?
And would anyone on 1114/anyone in the know care to explain how their lift works? Very impressive, without a doubt. |
Re: pic: 1114 hanging around
looking at another pic they look like pneumatic wheels

I got a pretty good look at their hanging mechanism at Pittsburgh, works with the front arm that latches on to the bar with some high traction rubber on the bottom of it to grip onto the bar. They pull them selves up using a winch system that uses their 4 drive CIMs, it engages using a dog gear. Its really fast, they can get all the way up in less then 3 seconds. The top tail grabs onto the bar at the end of their climb to hold themselves up. |

1114 was prone to slipping down the bar earlier in the competition (Friday practice, I believe), making the hang not count - the tail slamming into the bar at the end of the hang was identified as the culprit. Softening the blow of that impact helped, but it still slips a wee bit every so often - just not enough to invalidate the hang. Something tells me they'll find a way to get rid of that altogether soon enough. |
Re: pic: 1114 hanging around
I was always excited to see the robot lift itself at the end of each match. The way it lifted itself was smooth and elegant. It was an amazing lifting mechanism.

Re: pic: 1114 hanging around
Beautiful Robot! I love the hanging mechanism. Does anyone have details on the kicker and the ball magnet?
