Green MacHHHHine 3129 2010 Season Video

The first-ever Green MacHHHHine season video (made by my brother, Robbie)!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kio1ZQ_59hw

Robot Specs:

- Drivetrain: 4 wheel tank drive, 4 CIMS with standard KOP Toughbox transmissions. Front wheels are AndyMark 8" Plactions, rear wheels are KOP 8" slick wheels (probably should have been omnis, but we had budget and testing time concerns)

- Ball Control: "Flapper roller" driven by 2 FP motors geared down 12.75 : 1. I can't explain this well in a small amount of words, so I'll post a picture when I can get a good one. From what I've seen, its performance is one step above that of a simple backspin roller, but one step below that of a (properly implemented) pinch roller system.

- Kicker: Surgical tubing powered, variable strength (4 different strengths), can score from any zone. The entire kicker assembly is driven by 1 CIM (geared down 240 : 1), and position and firing are controlled by 1 potentiometer and 1 limit switch. There are also 2 failsafe limit switches that prevent the system from damaging itself during a failure, but we've never needed them.

As a result of our post-ship testing, we will be making a few very small changes Thursday morning that will greatly increase performance, and a number of significant aesthetic improvements :D .

See it all in person at SVR!

You bet. It's not particularly graceful, but it's not slow either. I was very worried at first, but we haven't managed to flip it or break anything. Last night we drove over it again and again, and although we're still wincing at the impact, the robot's totally fine with it.

He-he. This is the pre-ship kicker. We've tripled the range since. No exaggeration.

Thanks for the comments everybody!

Its too bad you couldn't put more green on it :-) looks like a very successful robot and the shooter looks really accurate. Nice Job with the camera tracking as well. Our team decided to use it as a secondary aiming system. Hopefully we'll see you at Georgia!

Actually, we did :D. The ball guards all around the sides (hanging down from the frame) have all ben spray-painted, the cover's been spiffed up, and there's another green surprise for SVR, too :D.

Thanks a bunch! Accuracy has been significantly improved since ship. We haven't been using the camera system as much as we thought we would, but it's helpful to have it there.
