Has anyone seen the new Google commercial? It is one of their famous Search Stories titled "High School"

Is it a coincidence that they have a commercial that talks about a robotics club when they are an Event Sponsor at Championships?

Probably not a coincidence. :)
In what capacity are they a sponsor? I saw google listed as a sponsor in the Midwest webcast-- did they just sponsor that regional?

Ooh, appropriate in regards to FIRST ideals.

I think its an indication of how tired I am that I clapped at the end. I don't know why.

Google is the sponsor of the Silicon Valley Regional and a few teams along the west coast. I am unaware of other activities, but both founders are proponents of STEM education.

I remembered that either a founder or co-founder was a special guest speaker at the FIRST National Championships either in 2004 or 2005, and declared that Google was a supporter of FIRST. I've also learned from this speech that it was no accident that if you were to Google "first," the very first thing on the list would be the official FIRST website. (Give it a try!)
Because of this, it is no doubt in my mind that this commercial is a definite nod to the FIRST community :)

I absolutely love that commercial (and the obvious nod to FIRST). I also love those little robotic dinosaurs they show in the very beginning. I tried one out once at Sharper Image, coolest thing ever.

Both of the founders of Google have been keynote speakers at the Championship.
Google as a company and employees sponsors events, teams and other FIRST efforts.
