Flash drive

I would love to be able to bring a flash drive to pit admin and get the match schedule in excel format. That would make my life easier.

Rather than by handouts, that would be great!

I know a few years ago BMR tried providing a wireless setup so you could see the match list, but I haven't heard of a system since that was provided by the regional. I also liked the digital transfer of the BOM this year. Is there any way we can go more digital?

On Friday morning go to http://www2.usfirst.org/2010comp/eve...chresults.html (replace XX with your event code). You can copy and paste the contents into excel.

edit: you have to copy it into note pad and then excel.

You could also paste special -> Unicode text.

Remember to attach it with a string to something. Those things disappear quickly, if you know what I mean :/

Get a DROID and install FRC Spyder. Up to the minute rankins, schedule, results from ANY 2010 Regional, (as long as it has started running matches!) ...all in the palm of your hand. :D

It would be nice if FIRST officially adopted the (now open-sourced) Sundial and incorporated it into the Field Management System, and hosted it on an official Wifi network separate from the 802.11n used for the field control. It would be especially helpful if they they incorporated a mobile-device optimized version of the web page.

Not only would it make it so much easier for teams themselves, but queuing would get a lot easier as well. The FRC Spyder and FRC Tracker apps are great if you have a phone with a data plan, but otherwise everyone else (iPods, laptops, etc) is out of luck.

Match schedules are generated by FMS and then sent to a PDF for printing. It seems that an "export to excel" could be added to the FMS schedule generation. I'll suggest it to the FMS designer and see what can be done. Logistically the biggest thing will be providing a computer to Pit Admin. Right now the FIRST electronics case doesn't include a laptop for Pit Admin.

Once they post it on the website, you can use a feature of excel called "web query" to automatically import it for you. This link explains how to use it:

FIRST makes the match scedule avalable on Thursday afternoon. (I had FL's at about 3:30pm Thursday)

i 2nd the sundial idea. FIRST seriously needs to adopt the system.

Re: Flash drive

If first got away from offf the shelf wifi and went lisenced bad sundial would work flawlessly and the matches would run flawlessly without outside interference.

I have a iPhone and FRC Spyder. Does it only work on a DROID?

That pit admin, the field and all the support staff at the regional are only connected by radio and runner when the radios don't work is a shame. How behind are we?
