This is awesome - I look forward to this - thanks! Did you happen to film the wide shot of the field?

I was also wondering if anyone captured the moment when Dean got smacked in the head by a deflected ball during one of our matches. He was all right afterward, but his reaction at the moment was rather interesting. Our bot happened to be right next to him at the time.

Catching up on lost sleep and waiting for the adrenaline to wear off, I got to do one of my other great loves – “NO NOT BUILDING ANOTHER ROBOT”- spending time with my family.
The NC Regional was a fantastic event, Marie E. Hopper put on an INCREDIBLE EVENT – Andy Baker and Dean Kamen were just a few things that made this an over the top regional.
Teams I would like to thank:
1902 Exploding Bacon – you guys never got tired of my childish ranting of your great chant “OINK, OINK - - BOOM”. My cheese head is off to your build and programming team – I don’t think that 1086 could have gotten 3346 through inspection without you guys. Bacon Mentors – your students are great and a testament to what good role models you must be. The drive team hanging at the last minute and following the plan to the T, it was truly a pleasure working with BACON. To your drive coach take good care of the cheese head!
48 Delphi Elite – I wish could have met the rest of your team but your Drive Team was a great group to work with performing the task given them and sticking to it. Defending and scoring to the very end. Travis – great mentor and thanks for the picture of the sandwich – it makes me remember that this should be fun.
122 NASA Knights – Your mentors are incredible, helping multiple teams all at the same time AMAZING. It was great to have familiar face with us in NC.
1519 Mechanical Mayhem – Great robot, incredible autonomous and sorry about busting your ball capture. You guys made the finals a show worth watching
Ken Streeter your students must have the greatest appreciation for you – I feel honored to stand with you as a fellow WFA winner.
1772 Trail Blazers – We never got to meet but what a fight you gave the Elite – Bacon – Blue Cheese alliance.
1741 Red Alert – Andy Baker gave me a hint that you guys would be a great pick, it is too bad we could not have run with you instead of against you, great finals we look forward to seeing you in Atlanta.
401 Hokie Guard – Sorry we couldn’t make the alliance selections work but it was great playing with you guys at VCU and NC regional’s.
Andy Baker as always it was great to spend time with you; maybe we can actual work together as an alliance – See ya at champs.
Michael Coleman – my students learned a lot during your inspection – truly a great experience for team 1086.
To all the Volunteers WOW first time regional, on time, no replays, no field faults – thanks

The Flying Platypi had a great time at their first "Home" regional!
We would like to thank 449 for picking us for their 7th seed alliance!
It was the first time our team wasn't 8th seed and it (at least for me) felt great.
Also thank you 2415 for filling out the alliance and being a great scorer.
Thanks to the judges, volunteers, sponsors, and Marie!
Congratulations teams 1519, 1772, 1741, 1068, 48, and 1902! You made the finals a real nail-biter and great to watch!
A big congratulations to 1311 on Chairman's and all the other teams that won an award.
I had an awesome time at the regional and can't wait until next year!

Yes. I filmed the entire field. I was recording it on a tripod and the video looks very good. It is a hi8 camera so it may take a little bit to get them converted into mp4. I will have them soon though.

And Yes, I got the shot where Dean got hit in the face and the angle I was at allows you to see his reaction and the field at the same time.

on behalf on 2228 i would like to thank teams 401 and 2614 for being such great alliance partners. I just wished i could have used a little better strategy but the event was run smoothly. This was also my last event as a student but i am definitely going to mentor for a long time to come and congrats to 1519.1772.1741 and 1086 48 and 1902

Congratulations to the great State of North Carolina for hosting their 1st FIRST Robotics Competition Event.

And super congratulations to everyone that attended and especially to the award winning teams with great robots.

Almost. I never wanted to simultaneously win an RCA and rank badly with the robot but we we came in 44th out of 44. Ouch.

As my racing friends say, sometime you are the windshield and sometimes you are the bug.

North Carolina Regional Event - a great time to be had by one and all !

I would like to start out saying that this was a great regional, certainly alot more than I expected!

Team 1086 Blue Cheese

Even though sometimes I mixed up your team name I thought your robot was one of the most amazing machines at North Carolina. Once I heard you guys say our name and number in alliance selection I knew that it was going to be some awesome Elimination Rounds. Thank you very much for trusting and picking us to play with you. Elite Ham and Cheese was an awesome alliance!

Team 48 Delphi Elite

I personally didn't get to talk to you guys alot this competition but it was awesome having you as an alliance partner, you guys did great, and I'm glad I got to work with you guys!

Team 79 Krunch

We sadly never got to play with each other here as we wished to do. But I really enjoyed having our pits right across from yours that was so much fun to come over and talk when there was a little bit of down time (if any at all).

To 1519,1741,1772

The finals matches were awesome set of matches and you gave Elite Ham and Cheese a run for their money. You guys did great!

I know I am forgetting a few teams/people in here but thank you to everyone who made this regional a truly exceptional regional! It was a ton of fun and only can wonder what it will be like next year!!!

Exploding Bacon had a Blast OINK! OINK! BOOM!!!

Wow, what a regional.

1086, you guys rock. Great bot, great team, great hats. I'll be keeping the one your drive coach gave me safe. I currently have up on my mantle. I hope we get to play with each other again in Atlanta.

48, you guys rock, and you have one of the coolest teams ever. Your drive team brought the party and didn't want to stop rocking till the final buzzer. I told your drive team that we had played together in one of our first matches of the tournament and I wanted to play together in the last. I'm glad we made good on that promise.

1519, 1772 and 1741 you guys performed amazingly. I was unsure on how we would be able to beat you guys and was astonished when we did. I have to say you guys did your homework too, 1741 was possibly the pick of the century. When we made our pick list we believed they were a top 10 team. How they fell so far, no one will ever know.

To all our old friends and new thanks for making it a great regional.

Every year we travel to a newer regional we get a bit nervous about what to expect. North Carolina did not dissapoint. It ran like clockwork, and nearly felt like the championships with the star studded cast of voluneteers. So great work volunteers and thanks for putting on the regional of a lifetime for us here on Bacon.

Oink Oink Boom!

Hey team 2614 was wondering if any team from the NC Regional filmed the final awards ceremony, especially with the MC reading off the award preludes. We filmed the entire event except for the awards and I know that some of us would like to show our parents and other team members who couldn't make it to the event. If anyone has that flim and they would be willing to share, could you please email me at slaminswimster@aol.com or just post a link here.
Thanks!!

I'm thinking that's by design - you might want to contact the photographer and ask what your options are.

If you do this and expect to use the photos for anything other than personal enjoyment - submission to an area newspaper, usage in school publications, display on a team website, etc. - then you should definitely gain permission from the original photographer to use the pics in that manner.
