Funny things to ask for on the PA system

-flux capacitor (classic FIRST prank)
-any number of items from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXW0bx_Ooq4
-Turbo Encabulator (engineering joke, also from the above video)
-sonic screwdriver (Doctor Who)
-nanites
-nanotubules
-buckyballs
-some [element] (try xenon, astitine, or anything that you could pass off as "just a material")
-an "LHC"
-a previous FIRST game piece
-a large "black bag"
-something in a different language

And if the announcer will let you...
-an easy button (you can actually buy these...)
-chloroform
-a very very large bucket

Any other ideas or things people have done? :)

This was announced at Palmetto. "Warning, dihydrogen monoxide has been spotted in the arena. Please avoid breathing in the dihydrogen monoxide!"

or

"If you have a weighted companion cube, please bring it to the nearest apature science incinerator"
"The cake is a lie"
"Where is Waldo?"
"Team ______ lost the game"

We always enjoyed asking for things like a "left handed ratchet" or "left handed adjustable crescent wrench." Then they staffed the pit admin with people who actually knew tools, and we just got that "....really?" look every time we tried. :/

Test for stupid drivetrain freshmen "Go find me the left-handed screwdriver"

I thought a good one was the metric crescent wrench.

Then I discovered that they exist. Guess the joke was on me!

We have not personally done this but...

"team #### is requesting that anyone who has any information on the whereabouts of their robot please report up here... thank you."

:D

I've heard "roflcopter," "pneumatic programming wrench," and, "six weeks of our lives back."

This isn't related to robotics but there is a computer and network administrator class at my high school with only a few kids in each hour. During each of these hours there is also a large class of students learning programming of different sorts and there is a single class for accounting. Every time there is a substitute teacher, one of the students in the first hour class asks the sub to remind my friends and I who show up later in the day to swap out the "Hydrogen Moleculizers" in all of the computers. When one of us is notified of this important task we all become extremely serious about getting it done. This has been going on all year and yet not a single substitute has noticed we were joking.

At SVR last year our programmers sent a member on a search for prop wash, we continued this tradition this year by sending 5-6 of our new members to a series of teams who would say something like "oh we just gave it to XXX, try them" it took them a good 10 minutes and 8 teams to find out what prop wash is

In the NYC regionals, the announcer said "Has anyone seen Waldo?"
