What happened to "Green Your Business"?

Hello,
If someone remember, at the kickoff FIRST announced of "Green Your Business" program to recycle electronics and get money to your FRC team.
Someone know what happened to this program? there was not any more information about this program.

At Troy (MI) last week, Dean mentioned it. Details still to be released. I forget exactly when he said it would be; maybe this summer?

I remember he said at kickoff that it would be released this summer.

I spoke with Paul Gudonis at the Palmetto team social; as I understand it, the green initiatives are being piloted in Virginia. We'll see how it pans out.

I suspect it is based on this:

From the Info that was put out last year:

I cant seem to find the full upload of the 2009 conferences, but I suspect it would be available there...

The program itself is being piloted everwhere in Virginia, not just to the FRC teams in Virginia. Thus the teams who are part of a school in Virginia cannot use the "Green Your Business" program to fund robotics if the school beat the robotics team to it.

Do you know if a lot of the schools are succeeding? We looked at going to the Championship Conference last year, and I think opted against it because it just seemed like so much work & risk for so little reward (at least in comparison to our patron drive - 100% profit for 10 min training, no cost). I know FIRST and people everywhere are giving "Going Green" a lot of hype, but if I owned a business, I think I would be skeptical of hiring a student to do a green audit for me.

Ooooh wait wait wait. I thought we were talking about the cell phone recycling program that's piloted in Virginia. If i remember correctly, it was announced at kickoff before the game was announced and it deals with a company based in Virginia (Waste Management I think?).

The energy audit seminar ... I have no idea what's going on with that. It seems like a good idea at first, yet it's subjective to the types of businesses within a team's area. I also didn't think this was being officially piloted anywhere.

A few months back I had gotten information from folks up in Manchester about the Greening your business plan it will be rolled out over the summer. I believe the intention is not for businesses to hire students to do the audits, but for the students to visit their schools, sponsors and local businesses and offer to do the audit for free. There are two reasons for doing this, 1. To make the teams more visible in their communities and to ensure that more people are being as green as possible. 2. From what I understood the fundraising part would be that teams would ask for a percent or donation of the money saved from the audit.

We wont really know for sure unless someone from FIRST tells gives us more information or we wait and see in the summer.

The program is interesting to say the least. The company in Richmond where we are dropping off our stuff is a refurbishing and reselling company. So the issue there is they are looking for a lot of newer electronics, whereas the stuff we have received for the most part is rather old. Our team hasn't taken what we have collected to them yet, we will probably do that soon after spring break ends.

I attended an impromptu going green conference I believe Thursday morning, and out of the five people in the audience, Paul Gudonis was there. I talked to him afterwards, and he said that they would announce more later in the week, and that there would be all of the information (including a 40 some page going green manual) on FIRST's website. I still do not see any of it. It seemed to be Paul's pet project.
