Team 342 Challenges all teams to join Summer Pygames

Together we can change our world, one game at a time.

Summer pyGames is a Summer event kicking off June 12th where high school students can come together to learn how to make games for the XO laptop platform. The students have 6 weeks to either upgrade or modify an existing submission or to make a completely new game. Online support will be available at the start of the competition to mentor students as they try to design, program, and create the art and music for their games. The games submitted be judged by elementary school students and teachers. Top achievers will be recognized.

We are encouraging all teams to register as soon as possible to help our coordinators scope this project appropriately.

The Summer pyGames began last year when students from FIRST Robotics Team 342 took time from their summer to sit down and do some serious gaming. The team located XO laptops to develop on with the specification that they make a 4rth grade math game. The Team debuted the beta version of Burnie's Balloons at 'Software Freedom Day 2009' and then at 'Barcamp Charleston 2009'' . Meeting up with the The Palmetto Project the team learned that their game could be distributed to schools all throughout South Carolina and that there was a need for educational games to make learning fun. This summer we are challenging all students to participate an create their own games. Games that make math, Language, & Science fun! And to change our world, one game at a time.
