Re: Archimedes 2010
I remember last year in ATL my team saw 5 other teams with the same team shirt style...tho i doubt that'll happen this year with our "Cooking with the Juggernauts" theme...:) yay achimedes

Re: Archimedes 2010
"Looking Forward" has posted the "Top 25" team list (26 technically due to a tie), and 10 of them are on Archimedes.

Re: Archimedes 2010
I don't think this is the place for it, but somebody mentioned it two pages ago...does anyone know where the NASA webcast for Championships is? The link from usfirst championships page only goes to regional webcasts, it seems.....is the Championships link only available during the actual competition? Thank you!
Was glad to see 997 ranked high on Joe Ross's calculations :D [Yes, I'm a member of Team 956, but am coming with 997 as official team videographer, through a happy series of events.] Looking forward to playing with some well-known teams! Good luck all! |
Re: Archimedes 2010
hey everyone! Talon 540 will be in Archimedes this year and we are thrilled and anxious about championships!! We attended the Virginia regional at VCU and had many minor technical defects that were overlooked so we were not able to perform to our full potential at VCU. Fortunately, we figured everything out and got our robot working the way its supposed to and is ready for Atlanta! We should be able to work effectively in Archimedes and hope to do well so drop by and check us out. We are excited to meet all of the other teams in Archimedes and it should be an fun experience. Good luck to you all!! :)

Re: Archimedes 2010
To everyone in Archimedes:
Lets help each other speed up the scouting process by posting links to videos and pics of our robots. It is to everyone's benefit to start off in Atlanta as well informed teams that are ready to play. FYI: We posted a video earlier in this thread. Best wishes to all in our division. |

Team 1519:
Videos- http://www.mechanicalmayhem.org/teamvideos.asp Build season and GSR highlights- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=di-F2uhMIUc And a picture of our robot Vortex! ![]() Unfortunately this picture was taken before GSR and leaves out our ball vacuum and active shepherding which work well at getting balls off of walls and bring them to our sucker! Good luck in Atlanta, hope to see you in a few days! |

876 8wd with direct drive supershifters and plaction wheels good at scoring from middle zone double roller pincher type ball grabber, sort of like 148 etc. haven't had to play any defense yet but I'd think we're well set up for it. See ya there, this looks like a fun group of teams. |

604
8WD 2 speed transmission Kicker capable of scoring from any zone Autonomous for each zone "Pinch" style ball retention We have played full on offense and full on defense, and have been extremely successful at both. We have never tipped and have never broken down. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Archimedes 2010

It only takes them a few seconds to go from one side of the field to the other, a maneuver they used to great success at SVR. They were indefensible on the offensive end. We played against them in the quarters. Knowing that 604 would move to the offensive position, 3129 decided to set up in the home zone and launch our offensive attack. Even with our alliance's midfield robot dead in the water, 3129 poured in 8 goals that match, but 604's alliance still outscored us (final score: 13 to 10). We figured with our alliance's midfield bot running for the second match, we could outscore 604's alliance. No dice. 604 changed strategy and locked us down in our home zone. We had to pull in our midfield robot and double-team them just to get any balls in. We got flattened, 9 to 4. This just highlights Quixilver's versatility and adaptability. Like Eugene said, Quote:
Oh yeah, and they're in contention for the Dean's List, Engineering Inspiration, and Chairman's Awards, too. These guys are the real deal. Eugene, now that I've gone and put a target on your back (:D), knock 'em dead at Atlanta! |
Re: Archimedes 2010
Am I the only one that noticed that 604's Ball Manipulator looks alot like 1114, 217, and 148's?

Ralph from S.P.A.M is ready to go. Im pyshced because it is my first year going to Atlanta. Unfortunetly i only found out about the webhug today so im sitting here waiting for 9:47. It all sounds fun. Ill be the one walking around passing out spam pins with ties of other teams pins. We got nine this time, each one of a different super hero. Of course we will be representing superman on our shirts. I got an extra fun shirt that im hoping to trade. Cant wait i will see you guys there and good luck.
p.s. if our robot starts spinning out of control and Brian, our driver, looks pissed, its NOT broke, its just dancing;) :ahh: ... just wanted to make that clear. |

Re: Archimedes 2010
From what I've been told by my team, there are going to be some exciting match-ups on Archimedes tomorrow! Unfortunately, I'll have to miss them since I'll be traveling tomorrow (my flight gets in at 7PM); however, I'm looking forward to a great weekend.
Since FIRST hasn't posted the match schedules online yet, would anyone who uncrated tonight and received a paper copy of the Archimedes qualification match schedule be able to upload a photo of it for others to see? |

Re: Archimedes 2010
For anyone on the field crew reading this, the sound (particularly the play-by-play announcing) is dangerously loud and painful in the stands. Too much upper range. PLEASE turn it down. We aren't watching from the upper deck here.
|
Re: Archimedes 2010
The matches are making it quite clear how stacked this field is. Wow.
Also, I just looked up the match schedule- looks like 180 is playing 1124 in match 23. Boy is that going to be a confusing match! |
Re: Archimedes 2010
Pretty good stuff so far. I hope everyone is having as much fun as I am. Tomorrow should be real exciting!
|
Re: Archimedes 2010
I'm sure enjoying it. Regardless of how we're doing.
It's nice to play with some really great teams. Archimedes will win it this year. I can feel it. -Nick |
Re: Archimedes 2010
Watching these matches on the webcast really has me disappointed that I couldn't get the time off of work to go to Atlanta. It is really cool to have the opportunity to see our bot compete with teams like 1918 and 254, playing with these great bots lets us do what we like to do, just clean upthe front zone. So far it is working great.

Re: Archimedes 2010
Watch out for falling robots!
-Nick I'm not guilty, I swear! |
Re: Archimedes 2010
On behalf of the Archimedes inspection team, I want to say thanks to all of the Archimedes teams for making the inspection process a complete success. At 1:00 we had only one team that needed to complete inspection. You guys rock ........ now let's win this thing! :D

Re: Archimedes 2010
Hello all, long time chiefdelphi user, first time poster. I just had a quick question; does anyone know why Team Hammond is listed as playing only 6 matches so far? I checked and noticed that they have in fact played 7 up to this point in time, and their seeding seems to be very much impacted by it. I thought someone would have noticed that by now, unless they received a red card and I missed it. Thanks guys, and let me just say that chiefdelphi is one of the greatest websites out there!! :D
|
Re: Archimedes 2010
Dr. Joe already noticed that. 71 will in fact play 11 matches; their third round will not count at all for seeding, as it is a surrogate round. In that round, they are filling in the schedule so that all teams get the same number of counting rounds.

Re: Archimedes 2010
Congratulations to alliance 1! I was rooting for you since your first pick (but shh, don't tell my team that! ;))
LET'S GO ARCHIMEDES! |
Re: Archimedes 2010
On behalf of the Archimedes Field Reset Team, I want to say thanks to all of the teams for making Archimedes a wonderful success. Above all want to thank team 254 for voting me the hardest working volunteer on the field. I will wear the t-shirt you gave me with pride.
