I apologize for the fact that this image is going to be very large, but here is Team 201's 2010 robot!

-omni rear
Variable tension kicker
-Score from all zones
Ball magnet
Can go over bump and under tower

Re: Archimedes 2010

I don't have any good pics of 33's bot, but you can see everything above the bumpers in my WAI pic. Hangs really quickly from the vertical bar. I think Daniel Ernst has some mixed in with pics from Kettering, Troy, and MSC. He posted a link to the MSC ones HERE, the best ones of our bot are:
Hanging
Driving

6wd, center wheel articulated. Normally drop-center but the center wheel can come up as much as 4-5"
front 4 wheels are AM Plaction wheels
rear 2 are omni wheels
Even though it might not seem obvious from the picture of the underside (hanging), all wheels are driven. 4x CIM through AM Shifters, ~5 and 12 fps.
Claw - Hangs quickly from vertical pole and also pushes center wheels down (they are not actuated other than this)
Pincher-type ball magnet, on a floating assembly, sprung down to go over minor terrain changes like the small bump by the towers and such
Variable-distance spring kicker, motor recoil.
Cool lights to show off during tower-hanging, doubles as feedback to driver and coach.

I liked the bolding but I have a little more respect for "THE HOOK" than just bolding. :)

I made that call, thank you very much!
And you did make that call Gary! But I'm glad neither of us had to make the call about the strategy clipboard that had slid underneath the plastic and managed to stay there all through the match! :)

Archimedes is going to be fun!

I like to call it "creative placement" ;)

Hopefully it will never happen again, since we may not be that lucky next time. Although we did win that match with the clipboard...

A video of our NYC Championship is here
http://www.team341.com/media/10_nyc_regional_video.php
Even though our drive team has won two regionals, they are still rookies and improve a little bit more with every match. So they have gotten even better since this video was shot.
Best of luck to everyone in Archimedes!!

I'm excited to see 103 compete with some world-class competition. We always seem to be on a "stacked" or "deep" division and this year is no exception. Here's some alliance predictions.

1.25,254,190 W
2.33,148,1519 SF
3.71,968,103 F
4.1918,201,70 SF
5.330,359,1153 QF
6.233,341,1218 QF
7.1124,118,86 QF
8.45,234,2753 QF

Every time I look at the list I see another powerhouse team that I have yet to notice. With all of this talent, I'm looking forward to qualification matches that are actually fun to watch:) .

BT, These look like some very realistic alliances. I also see you've placed yourself on a very capable alliance... :p

Though, I think that a #1 Alliance of 25, 254, and 103 would be much more awesome. I guess it's also possible that 25 could select 968 if they play well and try to repeat the magic of Newton '06.

Regardless, I think I'll be spending some of my free time on Archi cheering on some of the awesome teams from the NJ/PA area. (25, 103, 341, 1218, 2753)

That all Michigan alliance looks epic! However, I can't really see it happening, since all 3 robots are very good, and were all alliance captians at the Michigan State Championships (1st, 5th, 6th). If it is possible, then it would be the greatest alliance ever (Einstein :) )

I think you really underestimate 1519. Other than that, neat predictions. I like 25 / 254 / 190, that is totally plausible.

Here's SPAM's 'bot:

Mia SPAM

We've chucked the field oriented driving scheme from the Florida Regional and solved our CAN bus "BlackJag" resets. Hopefully our driver won't have that big flat spot on his forehead from banging his head against the lexan! ...right Brian? :D Anyway, we'll have to post some good numbers on the field with our Qual alliances to get some street cred.

Looking forward to a great field of competitors.

Eric

The fact that you called it street cred gives you a bunch in my book :D
However, wouldn't it be called field cred? :P

It's going to get confusing having both of our teams on the same field this year! Even when we've played on different fields our superman themed students clad in red capes always seem to get mixed up. :)
