New CNC Technology - 5 Axis
This is by far the coolest and the newest CNC Mill(?) that I have seen. Anyone's budget big enough to buy this? ;)

Um... jealous is something I rarely become... but now I have to go so far as to say jealous has become an understatement!
(Although I dont doubt the cutting procedure and CAD for that helmet was insanely tedious.) |
Re: New CNC Technology - 5 Axis
Imagine what you could do with that thing if your team owned one.
This machine has left me in awe... |

Absolutely GORGEOUS. Thank you for the link!
Is it really only 5 axes? It looks like that thing could bend time and space. |
Re: New CNC Technology - 5 Axis
5 Axis mills are a pain to program for. But, on the other hand, they allow some fairly interesting parts. The company I'm working for is contracting some 5 axis work for simple Mecanum wheels, similar in shape to the Andymark sheet metal wheels, but milled out of a single block. They're fun machines to watch.
