I'm so gonna do that! I can so see a great came coming out of counting Waffle Houses (and making fun of their close proximity to other Waffle Houses) |
Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
My team is coming from Israel to New York. It is 12 hour flight. I will sleep most of the time because the flight is starting at 12:20 PM and we will land at 5 AM in the morning.More 3 hours at the air port and then we have a flight to Atlanta more 2 hours. Almost 24 hours it will take us to be in atlanta.

Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
1676 always has a dance party :D we also watch movies, have Mario Kart races on our DS's (or some of us play our GameBoy Colors) or just chill and listen to our iPods and talk. we also have mandatory homework hours where we have to get some of our schoolwork done so we aren't pulling all-nighters on Sunday night before we go back to school :yikes:
the bus ride is always one of the best parts of the trips to different competitions, but we're going on a plane to Atlanta this year. no more 18 hour drives for us! |
Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
Last year during our 5-hour flight to Dallas the students set up a LAN in the back of the airplane and had a LAN party. The flight attendants were bemused. I still haven't figured out how they powered the router.

Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
have you guys ever heard of A Thousand Blank white cards?
it's a no rules card game, everyone makes there own cards and plays them in the deck, deal out the deck to everyone playing, (have everyone make 3 or 4 to make a good hand size). then start playing cards on each other that's the basis. here's a link to understand more.http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/4...nk-white-cards |

As someone who has made the trip from about where they are (I'm about an hour east of them) to Atlanta many, many times, it can about that long. I think the fastest we've ever made it was 11 hours, longest was about 17. Games such as "I'm going on a trip" can be amusing, especially if you limit it to specific topics, such as team names. I'm also a personal fan on sleeping on the ride down, as that makes it go much faster. (If you're traveling though Ohio, this is when you should sleep! XD) On that note, counting Awful Waffles works better the further south you are. :D |
Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
I plan on reading a book, listening to music and reading fanfiction on my laptop.

Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
Apples to Apples! Just make sure you have a place to put judged cards (like a bag) and to not lose any. We spent a good two hours on the way to North Star (each way) playing.
If you watch movies, don't want movies that involve a lot of screaming. The sleepy people get annoyed (Jumanji comes to mind). If you know any word games, those are fun. Especially rhyming-on-the-fly games. |
Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
some of us are going UP to atlanta :P
The flight is usually about an hour from Orlando to Atlanta, i usually sleep or listen to music... |

Remember..."The Vest" is Watching You. One year we did "Story Time with the Engineers" right before bedtime - the engineers recorded themselves reading Green Eggs and Ham and other classics in a really dorky fashion and played it back on the DVD player. And then there was the time someone put in an episode of the Super Mario Brothers Super Show. Someone almost lost their life at my hands at that one. |
Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
One thing I had the students do to bother Koko Ed on our way down to Battle O' Baltimore is have them say each sign that you drive by. When I had them do it, we just entered a construction zone, my my was it fun! I also had them say the word cone every time we passed one as well. Ed was not happy.
