Re: Greatest Memories~ 2010 Season

My greatest memory was in Las Vegas when we were playing defense against team 25 and tipped them on the bump. We lost that match but was still a very exciting memory.

For me it was at the Las Vegas Regional. After being chosen by the number 2 alliance and making it all the way up to the finals only to have our die on us, after trying all we could, we decide to be replaced by Team 4. The drive team and the other team members, down on the field, (me included) take our robot to the pit, all with feelings of disappointment. We round the corner back into the field and are greeted by the applause and cheers of Team San Diego and the rest of teams in the audience( best feeling in the world!). We watch the final match down in the field and unfortunately our alliance lost. But our spirits were lifted by the applause of the crowds and we were content with our results. Back up in the stands we awards were being given out. When the time came to announce the winner of the Chairmans Award we all hoped. When the announcer said "Team 585" we all exploded! Going through the tunnel of high fives and receiving Chairmans has been the most awesome time i have ever had! Also Atlanta was a blast!

The whole experience of FIRST has been amazing!

My greatest memory was robo raving with teams 2751, 281, 1102, etc (as well as my team, 1758) during the finals Palmetto Regional. We are on youtube!! It was epic! If you want to see the vid search robotics rave on youtube and it was videod by one of the 1102 members.

My greatest memory of 2010 was having our autonomous mode score 4/5 in Colorado and on top of that having our alliance partner in the front zone score their 1, so that alliance we ended up having 5 points coming out of autonomous

Another one was when our drive team came up with this quote (which some of my friends and I proceeded to put on buttons):
"If you think I'm sexy, you should see my robot."
;)

Team 3322-
I was amazed when we were 7th seed in the Ann Arbor district.
I can't believe the ann arbor competition was in OUR school :ahh:
I can't believe that we got so far as a team, because our entire team consists of sophomore and freshmen (new school).

Re: Greatest Memories~ 2010 Season

Volunteering at the Championships and queuing on Newton was my greatest memory this season. I worked with THE best people on my field. Karen was the sweetest woman to work with and handed out candies to the teams that were queued up, I worked with Kevyn who I've worked with at two regionals prior to Atlanta and the three of us just made a great team. Zara, Fran!, and everyone else on the field were just about the best ever. In the beginning we looked like the underdogs but finished first on Thursday and Friday :p

But in addition to working with great people, it was the best memory to be able to actually accept being a FIRST alumni and appreciate how FIRST affects young adults and how it continues year after year (even if it took me a few years to do so :P) . The drive teams graduate, the faces change, and the robots look different, but at the end of the day the inspiration is all the same.

I spent time between matches talking to the drive teams and it made me smile to be able to make some of them smile. One girl even asked me to sign her shirt, and had it be the only signature aside from Dean Kamen's, and whether or not it was the case by the end of the day I was flattered that even just queuing teams I was able to get to know such a great variety of people.

It rekindled my love for FIRST quite a bit, but in a way that I can't wait to be able to give some inspiration in the amounts that I have received it.

Re: Greatest Memories~ 2010 Season

I have four favorite memories from this year:

-Winning Ann Arbor along with our buds 573 and 66. The field wasn't the strongest there, but now we have a nice big blue banner hanging back in our workshop, ready to come to competitions.

-All of Friday at MSC. Mostly, what I did the whole day was hang out with the drive team. Sure, it was boring, but, as a freshman, to see everything going on in the pits it was really exciting. Plus, we were the 8th Alliance Captain, and we flipped 469 in the first match of the elimination rounds!

-When, at MSC, they were announcing who was going to the World Championship, and the guy read "Team 2337". That was great.

-Being picked by the fifth alliance on Curie by Team 1306. It was great to know all of our hard work lead to being in the divisional rounds, even though we lost in the first round to our best buds, 27.

The whole season was great. I can't wait for MARC and Kettering Kickoff, and then the real Kickoff next January (this year, it was on my birthday, yay!) I look forward to spending more time on the robot in a bigger role.

Connecticut eliminations. I wish there was video. Thanks to a strategy change up in SF1-1, we could have tied against the #1 alliance had it not been for bad luck (a twisted cable on 177's robot cancelled a hang and a broken DOGMA counter not caught until a match later. We needed both to get the tie, though). Each quarter and semi-final match was one awesome gain, yet one crushing loss due to a mechanical problem, last second success, last second failure. The chemistry of that alliance and the sheer intensity of the matches and repairs was, in retrospect, really awesome and not something I'm used to. Everything that could go wrong did... I loved it.

Philly Regional - 3rd Match

The anticipation for the bot to good was high and I needed to drive the best game of my life. Us, Miss Daisy (341), and Team Overdrive (2753) had an excellent game winning 9 to 8. It was the biggest rush for the team and me. I felt on Cloud 9 and excited for the rest of the qualifications.
