Re: Einstein 2010
I've never been to Championships; how does Einstein work? Is it the winner of the finals in each division all come together for a sort of extended semi-finals? Or am I slightly off?
|
Re: Einstein 2010
That makes more sense. I'm kinda surprised Galileo finished that quick.... Curie is definatly in Semi-Finals still, and as far as I know so is ARC
|
Re: Einstein 2010
Curie is behind because they had issues with Team 888's robot and the field, I believe.
|
Re: Einstein 2010
Newton results in: 67, 177, 294 are the winners
Division record: 6 wins 1 loss High score: 19 (twice) 2nd highest score: 17 |
Re: Einstein 2010
Archimedes, Alliance #1, 254, 233, 3357
6-1-0 21 (twice) high score 19 2nd highest. |
Re: Einstein 2010
Thanks guys. (updated)
Who knows which division plays which on Einstein? |
Re: Einstein 2010
469, 1114 and 2041 for Curie
And I think it's Archimedes vs. Curie and Galileo Vs. Newton |

Around what time will the matches on Einstein start? I'm going out tonight, but I want to screen cap the matches so i can watch them later.

Re: Einstein 2010
Pleasantly surprised to see two rookies in the running for world champion!

Also, first post is set. I'm thinking whomever wins in Archimedes vs. Curie is going to win the whole thing. |
Re: Einstein 2010
The match listings on the FIRST website are all kinds of wrong.
3:52 PM 1 233 1676 67 vs 294 1114 3357 3:53 PM 2 1086 2429 1625 vs 2041 254 217 3:53 PM 3 2056 1986 3138 vs 1718 33 1421 3:54 PM 4 16 177 469 vs 201 148 343 |

Those are the qualifications [which shouldn't be there, but regardless]. Take a look here:

Unless Newton wins, the youngest team to ever win in Atlanta will be crowned this year.
|
Re: Einstein 2010
It's going to be either Archimedes or Curie taking the title. I'd like to see Curie defeated, but I don't know what the outcome will be. Both alliances are so good!
|
Re: Einstein 2010
WHo thiunks finals will be the 1114 alliance vs the 2056 allaince?
|
Re: Einstein 2010
177 has made it to Einstein again. That makes it 5 years in a row. No other team has ever done that.
|
Re: Einstein 2010
What happened to all the Michigan teams? Weren't there predictions for 6 or 7 of the 12? I think there's just two with 469 and 67.
Galileo all the way baby!!! |

Re: Einstein 2010
Team IFI is on 3/4 of the alliances, Michigan is on 3/4 of the alliances, and 3/4 of the alliances have teams who have been to Einstein before.
7/12 of the teams are making repeat appearances on Einstein, and 4/12 have been champions before. Of those four, they are split two and two on Newton and Curie's alliances. |

Re: Einstein 2010
I would like to see 1625 in the finals, their six wheel swerve system is very cool.
I believe that Curie is going to pull it off, watching 469 get the cycle going is really fun to watch. All in all it has been great all day, very enjoyable to watch from home. |
Re: Einstein 2010
Wow, that was really exciting. (wish the cameras were aimed at the action). I think it's very possible for Curie to be defeated if the opposing team can hang a bunch of robots.

Re: Einstein 2010
If 67 wins this round, then they get a third win and break the repeat winners barrier. (71 is currently the only team to repeat, and of course the only team with more than 2.)
Of course, that means beating 1114/469 in the process. |
Re: Einstein 2010
Been a while since Curie fought Newton for the champs.
|
Re: Einstein 2010
I'm excited to see our friends from CT in the finals! I don't know how 177 manages to do it, but they're continuously impressive.
|
Re: Einstein 2010
WOW!!! I MEAN WOW!!!
|
Re: Einstein 2010
Newton just out scored them!!!!!
|
Re: Einstein 2010
Holy crap. At one point it was clear that Blue was going to win. I do not know what happened!! OMG! That was simply an epic match.
|
Re: Einstein 2010
294 happened.
The key to the finals is 2041, without a doubt. If 2041 can lock up 294 like they did to 1676, Curie will win. If 294 continues to outplay 2041, Newton will likely have the edge. edit: Well, that's not exactly what I meant, but 2041 getting stuck is definitely the key to that match. Congratulations to 294, 67, and 177. |
Re: Einstein 2010
Top 10 was good this year. I laughed to hard at #6 "If the world cup soccer competition had 12 soccer balls on the field Americans would actually watch it."
|
Re: Einstein 2010
If 2041 stayed there stuck for the entire match, it would have been soo sad for the blue alliance...:ahh:
|
Re: Einstein 2010
Covering that goal really hurt blue. Don't know if they got it.
|
Re: Einstein 2010
They pulled it off!!!
|
Re: Einstein 2010
Congratulations to Team 67, Team 294 and Team 177!! You guys proved all predictions wrong by defeating the favourites. You really deserve it.
|
Re: Einstein 2010
67 177 294 new World Champions. Wow. Spectacular matches. Congratulations!
|
Re: Einstein 2010
Wow Just Wow, thats all I can say
Congrats to 67 294, and 177. More to come when I calm down. |
Re: Einstein 2010
Congratulations to 67, 294, and 177!
67 joins 71 as the only teams with >2 wins, and the only two teams to win back-to-back Championships. 294 and 177 win for the second time each. |

btw does anyone have the top 10 list written down? |
Re: Einstein 2010
Congrats 177, 67 and 294.
I was hoping for a 3rd match though, that last one was a bit disappointing. |
Re: Einstein 2010
Holy crap.
Congrats to 177, 67, and our neighbors 294 in one of the most competitive finals ever. Amazing! |
Re: Einstein 2010
Congratulations on a great win 294, 67, and 177
|
Re: Einstein 2010
Congrats 294, 177 and 67, definitely deserving champions.
I was shocked that 1114 and 469 lost in the final. It looked like 2041 accidentally blocked some shots in the closing seconds that would have tied it up for blue. Still a very impressive alliance. |

Amazingly played 67, 294, 177. You truly did Breakaway! Enjoy your champion status and can't wait to see you again next year.
1114, 469, 2041: you fought hard. You had the game cracked like an egg and you are without any doubt true masters of robotics. Congrats on an amazing season and best wishes next year. Thank you to all the teams who competed for the most amazing season! Until next time =) BTW, anybody have a clue what the song that played on the webcast right after the championship match was? |

I saw the second final and watched 2041 accidentally get stuck in a blue goal, but how did the red alliance win the first match?
|
Re: Einstein 2010
This reminds me of Aim High and team 25. It's was "so obvious" that they had the championship wrapped up from the first week, but it didn't turn out so in the finals.

I'm not sure whether 2041's assignemnt was to keep defence away from 1114 and 469 or to score goals to start the loop, but whatever it was 294 did an amazing job of stopping them. I'm taking nothing away from 1114, but it didn't appear as though they were at their best in the finals. It may have just been good play by red on defense. |

Excellent job to both alliances in the finals! I wish we could have seen 469 at max speed like we did at MSC but it was still a thrilling finals on Einstein! 177, you are the #1 under-rated team in FIRST. 5 division wins in a row, incredible! |

Not only the quality, but also the fact that the cameramen in most of the divisions seemed to love to zoom in on one robot and follow it around.

If one had the original video, from all the cameras, they could edit it themselves, so it was a full field view, or whatever they wanted.

Re: Einstein 2010
The difference maker was clearly 294, which was instrumental in the win!
I rooted for them all the way in Einstein! Our great 2nd pick alliance partner in San Diego!! I still cannot believe it. |
Re: Einstein 2010
Interesting trivia on 294: The last time they won was in 2001 with 71, when they won for the second time, which was unprecedented at the time. (It was also the first of 71's back-to-back wins.) This time, they're with 67, as they got their third (first team other than 71 to do so), and 177, the sixth (or seventh, depending how you count their number) team to get 2 wins. Weird...
|
Re: Einstein 2010
71 won in 1997, did not win in 1998, 1999, 2000, then won in 2001 and 2002
67 won in 2005, did not win in 2006, 2007, 2008, then won in 2009 and 2010 |

Congratulations to our friends on the HOT team! Your team is fantastic! Congrats to all the Michigan teams for a great showing at Worlds! Wish we had been able to be there, but at least we got to watch! :)
Congrats to all the teams that made it to their division playoffs and finals and to all of the 2010 winners! Guerrillas - you are still champions! :) Awesome bot! Definitely the most talked about bot of 2010! Congrats to you all! |
Re: Einstein 2010
294 obviously had an awesome year this year! Our team felt like celebrities after the matches with everyone congratulating us! The FIRST community is great and we're glad to be a part of it Thank you all!
Naturally, we couldn't have done it without a great deal of help... Thank you to 67 and 177 for joining our alliance in Newton! It was an absolute pleasure playing with you guys! I think in every elimination round we had a slightly different strategy to match our opponents and we all executed perfectly! I can't wait to watch the videos! We also have enormous appreciation and respect for our opponents 1114, 469 and 2041. You guys were an incredibly powerful alliance! 1114 was very gracious by load testing our batteries throughout the competition - including the elimination rounds. You guys surely represent FIRST well. We also want to thank all the teams that loaned their batteries to us to pull us through the eliminations: 100, 166, 585, 702, 2839, and 3128. Thanks to 399 for offering their batteries after the Newton quarter finals as well. For our friends near LA who lent us batteries, your batteries are safely on their way home in our crate. We'll return them to you as soon as we can. We also want to thank a couple of teams in particular for their advice and support: 100, 217, 330, 359, 968, 980, 1717. When we needed some advice, we could rely on your support. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE FANTASTIC SEASON! Andrew |
