2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
Below are the teams for the 2010 IRI.
We have a great mix of teams from all around FIRST. As you can tell, we are expanding the field to 82 teams. We had quick responses from teams, declines from a few, and added a few from the wait list. With the match timing of this game, we believe we can still have plenty of matches and keep a resonable pace. We will post details soon on the hotels, schedule, scholarships, awards and other activities. 1 16 Bomb Squad 2 33 Killer Bees 3 45 TechnoKats 4 48 Delphi ELITE 5 51 Wings of Fire 6 67 HOT 7 68 TTT 8 70 More Martians 9 71 Team Hammond 10 93 NEW Apple Corps 11 107 Team ROBOTICS 12 111 Wildstang 13 116 Epsilon Delta 14 118 Robonauts 15 135 Black Knights 16 141 WO-BOT 17 148 RoboWranglers 18 171 Cheese Curd Herd 19 217 Thunderchickens 20 233 The Pink Team 21 234 CyberBlue 22 292 PantherTech 23 294 Beach Cities Robotics 24 330 Beach Bots 25 343 Metal-in-Motion 26 359 Hawaiian Kids 27 393 Full Metal Jackets 28 399 Eagle Robotics 29 461 WBI 30 469 Las Guerrillas 31 494 Martians 32 503 Frog Force 33 537 Charger Robotics 34 573 Mech Warriors 35 694 StuyPulse 36 829 Digital Goats 37 830 Rat Pack 38 832 Oscar 39 868 TechHOUNDS 40 888 Robotiators 41 910 Foley Freeze 42 980 ThunderBots 43 1018 RoboDevils 44 1024 Kil-A-Bytes 45 1038 Thunderhawks 46 1058 PVC Pirates 47 1086 Blue Cheese 48 1094 Channel Cats 49 1108 Panther Robotics 50 1114 Simbotics 51 1327 S-Botz 52 1477 Texas Torque 53 1501 Team THRUST 54 1519 Mechanical Mayhem 55 1529 CyberCards 56 1538 Holy Cows 57 1592 Bionic Tigers 58 1625 Winnovation 59 1640 Sab-BOT-age 60 1646 Precision Guessworks 61 1675 UPS 62 1714 MORE Robotics 63 1718 fighting Pi 64 1720 PhyXTGears 65 1730 Team Driven 66 1732 Hilltoppers 67 1741 Red Alert 68 1747 HBR 69 1902 Exploding Bacon 70 2056 OP Robotics 71 2062 CORE 72 2081 Icarus 73 2171 RoboDogs 74 2194 Fondy Fire 75 2337 EngiNERDS 76 2481 Roboteers 77 2771 Code Red Robotics 78 2775 Jackson Area Robotics 79 2826 Wave Robotics 80 2949 pwnage 81 3138 Innovators 82 3176 Purple Precision |

I have to herd 82 teams in two days. Well it will be good practice if I ever get lead que on a championship division. oy. |
Re: 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
82 teams. Only one word needed:
Impressive. Can't wait to see all these teams in action. |
Re: 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
It's good to see 1477 - Texas Torque - on the list. Another awesome Texas team!

I got bored...
IRI predictions bracket, assuming no large scale seeding system changes. Probably a bit very inaccurate. I rushed through it. Code:
1. 1114 469 1732 234 |

Re: 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
So people are crowning 1114 and 469 again for IRI, I wish you guys would have learned your lesson from Championships. IRI is almost impossible to predict winners. Frankly I'm tired of people being afraid of teams and handing them things. The team list here is awesome, I am sure the IRI committee will put on another great event.

Neither 67 nor 294 will win the final match. Yep, you heard me: neither of the World Champions attending will win IRI. I can't think of a time when a new World Champion won IRI in the same year... |
Re: 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
Digging the team list. Sad I can only be there one day.

Plus, I ain't afraid of no Simbot! (their singing on the other hand, may scare me) |
Re: 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
I will go bold and say 1114 and 469 won't be in the finals. Hey, they lost both matches on einstein and they have a huge possibility to be faced by bigger competition. They have too much of a target on them and I'm sure teams have/are figuring out ways to beat them.
I have a feeling an alliance in the bottom 4 will win IRI this year. This year will be so much fun! |

It would be my suggestion that a new thread be created for the inevitable predictions and the inevitable discussions that go with those predictions.

Re: 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
That is a pity! Personally one of the things that I was exited about IRI was to meet The Cheesy Poofs! After all the times in Atlanta and other Regionals that people had mistaken us for 254... I couldn't help but wonder who could inspire so many FRC spectators to immediately think of The Cheesy Poofs when they saw cheeseheads!
To comment on previous predictions, I believe that all of the teams that shall be contending at IRI have an honest chance at victory, and to reinforce that statement I want to mention something I noticed while looking through the records of IRI... No team has won it more than once. Many teams have gotten close, but the closest that anyone has gotten was 1625, who got to the finals in 2008 and then won last year. Perhaps they will win again? Perhaps as everyone seems to fear 1114 and 469 will take the spotlight, which they will undoubtly have deserved if they do win. Whatever the final score is, I know my team will be honored to play with and against all of the teams at this invitational event. My $0.02 Sincerely, Petrie |

Re: 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
Oh that is my mistake! I should have clarified I meant the last three years. 2007, 2008, and 2009. My scouting did not go further back than 2007.
Another factor to look into is the winners of Einstein this year. I do not know if there is a connection in previous years about who won Einstein and who won IRI? |

Only 2 championship winners have won IRI the same year, 469 in 2003 and 71 in 2004. |

It's true. I started compiling a rough draft of my fantasy first list, and I have teams that were among the favorites to win Atlanta that aren't even in my top 10. Since there are so many good teams, sometimes all 8 of the alliances are good enough to have won Atlanta (or at least the top 6). |
Re: 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
Nice list of teams attending. Looks like 16 of these teams are coming to the MARC also. These teams are getting a lot of experience during the summer. NICE

An interesting trend that was shattered this year: One of the winners of IRI since 2007 went on to win the Championship Event the next year. 1114 in 2007, 67 in 2008, and it looked like 1625 or 469's turn this year... However, if you amend that slightly to "appearing in the final match of the championship", you can include 469's run this year as well as 71's 2006 IRI - 2007 run. |

Assuming your alliances, I think 6 could certainly upset 3, and also, if it comes to 1 v 2, I think 2 would win. 1718 built an epic machine this year, that could easily surpass your prediction. Not taking anything away from your 3rd alliance, but I believe that #6 would be hard to beat. As for 1 v 2, I think 67, 33, and 51 would be powerhouse, though 51 could be replaced by 469, 2337, 25, etc. That alliance would have a great chance of upsetting your 1114-469-1732. Certainly 1732 would not present the opportunity 294 so intelligently took on Einstein (shove into goal), but I think the defense of 67 or 33 would be sufficient to at least quiet 469 and its partners (especially with both teams' strategic prowess), while the remaining robots would score like mad. With all three 'bots able to hang, that would be quite the powerful alliance. As for your selections, I don't think the diverting ability will be seen quite so highly at IRI, given the premier diverter's defeat at the Championship (despite many, many impressive performances to make it that far). Just some thoughts. Edit: It appears this was something of a very late reply. My apologies. |

If the first seed fails to pick 469, they will lose the IRI. I guarantee it.

I saw this a thread a little while ago, I didn't realize how deep the field is...
So, now I think it's time to say, "SWEET BUTTA"... See you at IRI. |
Re: 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
294 at the bottom of the list? Ouch.

Re: 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational Team List
After TARDEC I see alot of teams who were doing just "good" during the season do "great" during the off-season. It is making me REALLY excited! This is going to be one heck of a competition, and one heck of a talent show...lol, you'll see :D
