The fact that they mentioned it this early leads me to believe they are not going to do that.

Let's assume red herring. Think of the rookies -- No way on Earth will every rookie waterproof their robot perfectly. And I'd put money on veterans messing up, too.

The Game Design Committee spent the weekend on the first floor here at 200 Bedford Street. We waded our way through your suggestions and have narrowed the field down to four game concepts, each with their own diabolical twist. We discussed the Coast Guard’s robotic water games with Vince Wilczynski and wondered what we could do to make this year’s game the biggest and the best in order to celebrate FIRST’s 20th anniversary.
What is bolded in that paragraph is what sticks out to me. Connect them as you wish :p

(There's more to the blog post, but I'm sick of trying to find hints in the GDC's favorite foods)

Maybe if the people that sent in ideas would post them than we might be able to figure the game.

JC Penny is hosting a scrimmage for all of their store managers that are in Dallas today for their annual meeting. There are 8 teams attending from the area. 148 included. Mostly the managers are walking around checking out the robots in the pit area they have set up, but there will be 3 matches 2 vs. 2.

Thank you!
That's AWEsome!
I read this on the FIRST website: http://www.usfirst.org/aboutus/content.aspx?id=17361
It looks like a great opportunity.
Do you know the teams that have attended the scrimmage? I bet they've had a blast.

Thanks again, Adrienne!

As much as I don't think were gunna get much out of them yet, as they still have 4 games left. However I'm sure there having fun teasing us with this post with some obvious hints at a water game.

Idk if this is a hint or not... but they are no longer on the ground floor, look at the last paragraph

It's not. The ground floor is where they do their "fun" activities, from what I hear, so it just means that they're off elsewhere doing other things--like thinking up the one rule that will be thrown out in Week 1 due to being totally unreasonable/unenforceable.

T49: Due to safety concerns, robot operators are not allowed to exceded 2.5 mph while approaching their controls during the start of the match. Anyone exceding this speed will recieve a yellow card on their first offense, and DQ for their second offense, and must wear the cone of shame for the rest of the day.:yikes:

It really is a tough job though that the GDC has having to consider that some 1800 teams will be testing their ideas and boundaries fo the rules.

Can you provide a frame of reference against which the 2.5 MPH restriction will be compared?

Our team's strategy depends on this rule.
