IRI Scouting Database(incomplete)

1 Attachment(s)
Here is the scouting database I've been working on since May.
Thanks to all CD members who have helped me in any way.

It contains information on the teams attending the 2010 Indiana Robotics Invitational.
Info Such as:

Team Record
Events attended
High Score
Robot info:
Hangs?
Goes over bump?
Through the tunnel?
Drivetrain Specs?
Other information?
Picture

If any teams did not respond to the thread I started a while back, the only info Listed is the team record and events.

I am still open to updates.

[SEE ATTACHMENT]

How To:
1.Unzip Folder
2.Run Icon(Star Icon for GUI, App Icon for Text-based)
3.Enter Team Number
4.Enjoy!

All of the icons and shortcuts are currently Windows only. But since it is in Java, you can run it from Mac or Linux. The executable is under /IRI_SCOUTING_DATABASE_V1.7.8/app/ScoutingDBGUI.jar

UPDATE:

More information added. Not much. Just wanted to make this up to date.
SEE ATTACHMENT

If you see information that is incorrect, just PM me and I will fix that.
Also, If your team is listed, but you no longer want it to be, PM me, I will take it off.

Instructions:
Download MyXMLFile.txt12
Change the file extension to .XML
Paste it into the "app\" directory
Overwrite the old file

1Dont criticise me on my naming conventions:p
2CD won't let me upload XML Files

Yet Another Update

A few more people have PM'd me and corrected/added to my info.

As of now, I won't be publishing any more updates unless a significant number of the 50+ teams whose info is blank send it in tonight.

Instructions are the same as above
**REMEMBER TO CHANGE THE FILE EXT TO XML!**

Good luck to all teams!
Any feedback would be welcome.

And THANK YOU to anyone who has helped me in ANY way!

*Fun Fact:*
A previous version of the code made the perferred starting zone appear as "The Twilight Zone" if that info was not provided!(Now removed)

An error correction for whenever you release an update:

You have us listed as tunnel and not bump. It is the other way around. I looked at your XML file and the XML file is actually correct, so it is either a labeling issue on the UI or it just reads the wrong field.

You could also add a preferred starting zone as Far for us. It really depends on strategy though.
You *could* also add the MARC win (1718, 33, 326, 1528) but we had different drivers for that.

I looked through it, looks good but needs more information.

I know I said no more updates, but this is extremely important

As apalrd pointed out, there IS something wrong in the user interface.

ANY TEAMS LISTED AS ABLE TO GO OVER THE BUMP AND NOT ABLE TO GO UNDER THE TUNNEL OR VICE-VERSA: THE INFORMATION IS INCORRECT.
IF YES TO FOR THE BUMP, BUT NO FOR THE TUNNEL , THE ACTUAL INFORMATION IS NO FOR THE BUMP, YES FOR THE TUNNEL

Thanks, apalrd for pointing out a HUGE error on my part:o !

A corrected app is attached.

Re: IRI Scouting Database(incomplete)

I really like the Database, except for one thing/easter egg. When you type in an invalid team/team that's not going, the "filler" event that pops up is that team's result at The Game competition, with a little tag notifying you that you have lost. Jeremypg399, do you think that with my busy, stressful, overworked summer schedule I have time to lose THE GAME on top of all that? Thanks a lot.

As for real feedback, I really like the fact that the GUI is simple, but there isn't just enough data. I was using this program to see if some teams could hang, and the majority of teams I looked up had no data for that. I suppose that if someone spent a long time working on looking at every team, you could gather that sort of data - it'd be better than nothing.

Re: IRI Scouting Database(incomplete)

Hello,

Hopefuly, with this done, I know what to do better and what not to do.

Ideas for improvement for 2011 season:
Data gathering:
-Check Robot showcase forum for robot specs
-Surf youtube for specs
-Watch webcasts
-Use other sources(FIRSTChat, CD, etc)
-Enlist help from my team members
-Begin early!

App:
-Add flexibility--Able to be used in any event.
-Fix memory usage(I think 25 megs is a little too much for a simple app like this)
-Add ability to export to text
-Test more thoroughly as to avoid errors like the one above
-Look into cell phone app version(very far fetched, but great if I could get it working!)
-Many others

I hope everyone who has tried this has enjoyed it and benefitted from it(even slightly):) .
I apologise if this seems lacking:(.

Thanks alot,
Jeremy Germita

Also, good luck teams on Saturday!
