I also enjoyed the event. It was great seeing and talking to some of my favorite teams that we have competed with and against all year. It was well run and all went smoothly.

Two suggestions. If there is any way to get a larger screen placed high and center it would be much easier to see scores.

I got confused with the "Double Elimination" format. Our alliance was eliminated after losing one match.

The format did produce the best two alliances in the final rounds. Both alliances had great robots, well driven and worked well together. Congratulations to them and to all who ran the event!

One sad note: it was the last competition for Tin Man V, our robot, who has served us so well in over 100 matches. The team has vowed to keep him in running shape for ever.

I'm glad you enjoyed the event and thank you for the feedback. We'll have to look deeper into how we can make viewing the scoreboard easier in the future.

As for the double elmination format, I will try to figure out ways to better allow the crowd to follow what is going on next year. I'll probably make up some blank brackets with instructions for teams to fill out so they can follow along with the action. I can assure you though that no one was elminated after losing only 1 match. The way the bracket works, it would be physically impossible for it to happen, because if there was no winner/loser at any point, it would leave a hole in the bracket and completely bring the queing line to a halt. If I can figure out what two matches you guys lost (I need to get a copy of the queing bracket somehow) i'll let ya know.

Hope to see you there next year! The Tin Man was an amazing robot this year and I look forward to seeing what you guys pull off next year!

p.s. I believe that BUZZ has a copy of the big bracket, maybe one of those guys can clarify what happened.

I'll look into it. Most likely by the end of the week just like Carl.

(The bracket is in possession of BUZZ 2010 atm..)

I too was one of those who was very confused by the bracket, but just did what the quers told us to do. This year I helped with queing which was confusing at first in the elims, but was very easy after understanding the sheets Andy is talking about were given to each of us quers.

I was able to get a hold on the bracket for you guys thanks to one of the parents (Props to Mrs. R ;) ) Here's a scan.

Note:
This is only the Lower Tier, Team 20 (The Rocketeers) is in possession of the other one.

Thanks, Andy.

That's the loss I remember. I mostly wanted to make sure I understand how it works for future events. The main thing is that we had a great time and were able to give some new drivers and new kids on our team a taste of what we will be working for in a few weeks.

I see by the top of the page only 119 days till the first regionals!

What's nice about the "We're all winners, but with just one loss" bracket is that if you look to the left of the numbers, it shows the match the team originated from. So in 1922's case, the only way to make it to match 13 was to lose match 11. This means you got really far on the winner's side and would have moved to the finals if you had won 13. That's a really great run!

Memorial is a very hard venue to project anything (we've tried), so I think having copies for the crowd to keep score is a great suggestion.
