Re: CAGE Match 2010

2010 CAGE Match is set! 18 teams are registered:
45 TechnoKats
234 Cyber Blue
292 PantherTech
461 Westside Boiler Invasion
829 Digital Goats
1018 RoboDevils
1024 Kil-A-Bytes
1529 CyberCards
1555 PULSE
1646 Boiler Precision Guessworks
1720 PhyXTGears
1741 Red Alert
1747 Harrison Boiler Robotics
2171 Robo Dogs
2783 Engineers of Tomorrow
3176 Purple Precision
3180 Blaise of Glory
3266 Robots R Us

This year features representation from the great states of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. We're proud to host these teams, and hope they have a wonderful time.

Taking a page from the Indiana Robotics Invitational, this year's CAGE Match will not have judges. There will be a team-voted award: Gracious Professionalism. This will go toward the team that best exemplifies GP at the event. Ballots will be available in the pits.

Unfortunately, there will not be a bloodmobile this year due to scheduling conflicts. There will still be a carved pumpkin and a costume contest.

Remember that as part of registration, teams are asked to bring items for the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana. Once again, the team that brings in the most items will receive the coveted trophy. Will 1741 three-peat?

See you the 16th!

Re: CAGE Match 2010

Hard to believe, CAGE Match is only 4 days away.

We’ve picked up two rookie teams, 2494 from Bloomington South High School and 3487 from Plainfield High School. Thanks to 3176/1018 and 1501, these teams have robots to control.

Unfortunately, 3266 from Eaton, OH had some mechanical troubles and may not be able to make it. Let’s hope they can turn it around and compete.

For every 12-pack of soft drinks given to the concession stands, you’ll receive a free concessions coupon.

Remember to bring your pre-carved pumpkin for the contest.

1741 will provide a play area for younger children by the concession stand. It will feature LEGOs and other age-appropriate activities.

Please feel free to bring family, friends, administrators/staff, prospective sponsors – CAGE Match is designed to introduce people to FRC.

There are no rule changes from the official 2010 manual. Stu Bloom will serve as Head Referee.

If there are any last-minute concerns, PM me for my cell phone number.

See you Saturday!

Re: CAGE Match 2010

The Digital Goats would like to request that a couple teams bring window motors for us to use at CAGE.

Our lift arm is hard on them :)

Thanks

2010 CAGE Match Results:

WINNERS
234 CyberBlue
1555 PULSE Robotics
461 Westside Boiler Invasion

RUNNERS UP
1646 Boiler Precision Guessworks
3176 Purple Precision
1018 RoboDevils

Most Items Donated: 1741 Red Alert
Gracious Professionalism: 1741 Red Alert
AndyMark Award of Awesomeness: Chris Elston

Wow. What an exciting day. Lots of rookies got their first taste of FRC, and I daresay a lot of them were hooked. Many thanks to make:

Andy Baker, Mark Koors, Jerry Budd, Brant Bowen from AndyMark. What can be said about this group that already hasn't been said? We're proud to have you as partners, and we hope our event is becoming another feather in your cap.

Stu Bloom, head ref extroardinaire, and his crew of Steve Florence, Wayne Doenges, and Scott Miller. This group danced the line between presiding over a fair competition and not letting calls get in the way of the game.

Samir Shaikh and Chris Elston, not only came all the way down solely to help with the event, but brought their robot so a pre-rookie team were able to compete.

The 829, 1529, and 1741 parents all pitched in with behind-the-scenes work to make us look presentable.

While I'm on the topic of 1741, they also provided a Science & Technology exhibit for younger children. I know my son certainly had a blast playing up there.

Art Anderson from 45 came down Friday evening and early Saturday morning to provide the electrical setup for the field and pit power.

1024, 1376, 1741, and 234 came Friday to help setup, and many people from many teams stayed late to help tear down.

As always, there are people who are thanked privately - please don't be offended by omission here.

Now for the important part: The 19 extraordinary teams provided 763 items to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. We are humbled by the outpouring, and are so proud to deliver the items to this richly deserving program.

As always, we're looking for constructive criticisms - what could we change/add/subtract to make a better experience next year?

Hope to see you all on the third Saturday of October, 2011.
