Denzel Washington or Morgan Freeman

Hello Everyone,

My friend and I were having a bit of debate as to who we thought was better: Denzel Washington or Morgan Freeman.

So unless you've been under a rock or building FRC bots for 20 years straight, you know who Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman are.

Just cast your vote and feel free to discuss.

Personally, I find that Denzel Washington plays very diverse roles, and manages to kill (in a good way) every single role he plays. So my vote is for Denzel. What do you guys think?!?!?!?

Pffffttttt, Morgan Freeman is the god of epic voiceovers, plus he has his own show on the Science Channel.
What does Denzel have? A role that can be played by Will Smith much better? :P

And I'm disappointed you didn't show both sides of the argument. :( Trying to turn a bias?

They're both good actors, but Morgan Freeman has the voice factor that Denzel Washington can't match. You can't vote Densel Washington after seeing Shawshank Redemption.

I'm not understanding the purpose of the debate. To compare the talents of these two men, you would have to study their work which includes more than their performances. You would also have to understand their age differences and how that has impacted their decisions and choices and you have to research those decisions and choices. To judge these men otherwise would not be fair to either of them or their craft(s).

If you would like an example of excellence provided by these men and those they worked with, watch and read about the movie, Glory.

Not that I am voting but Morgan is a partner in a retro blues juke joint in Clarksdale, MS. He is very interested in keeping the blues alive and knowingly opened in the town where Mississippi blues was born. Clarksdale also claims to be the location for the Crossroads legend of the devil challenging a bluesman (Robert Johnson) for his soul.

"Better" is too broad a term. Better in what way?

That is a good questions, but think about it like this. Say that Washington and Freeman were both coming to your town, but they were only making 5 minute appearances, on opposite sides of town at the same time. Who would you go see?

It doesn't necessarily have to be an in depth analysis/comparison of the two actors. Just in general, who do you prefer/who do you think is better.

That makes it easier for me: Neither. I'm not terribly impressed by the skill and gift of acting, and generally don't celebrate 'celebrities'.

But, let's assume I was: Morgan Freeman, for sure. Both have so much more talent than I'll ever have, but Freeman seems to have more dignified roles. And I just love his smile!

This one is easy. Morgan Freeman plays God in Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty. Nothing is "better" than God, therefore Morgan Freeman is "better" than Denzel (evan though he makes some really good movies).

Along those lines, which is "better", Morgan Freeman or a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich?

I wonder if ttldomination is trying to punk us by wondering if we'll overanalyze absolutely everything on these forums...

(Morgan Freeman is my preference due to complexity of roles, but I'll go see a Denzel movie any day)

Until Morgan Freeman has his name as the chorus of a major song, I think PB&J wins...

Nope, no punking. Just trying to resolve a debate with a friend, which apparently I'm losing. But in the CD spirit, my roommate and I just spent 10 minutes analyzing our wall space and figuring out where/how to hang our poster...

ttldomination is lying, he wanted to prove once and for all that those on CD over-analyze everything on the forums. (jk ttldomination <3)

On a side note, ttldomination now owes a certain someone a favor because he lost the debate. :P

PB&J is delicious, makes people smile, and makes your belly full. Morgan Freeman makes people smile, but is most likely not delicious and will never achieve the love people have for PB&J. If there was a free PB&J giveaway and a Morgan Freeman autograph signing at opposite sides of town and occurring at the same time, I would go for the PB&J.

This person's skills of deliberation are far too impressive for my comprehension.

The line of reasoning I was looking for was: When your hungry, PB&J is better than nothing. Thus (with the transitive property) PB&J>Morgan Freeman (at least when your hungry).

I wonder if there's a way to test this? :ahh:
