I'd stop whatever I would be doing just to see that one.

Ditto.

Who knows, Ramp Riot is coming up and one of these three teams is hosting the event. :D

I believe it happened once, however 341 was only an RCA, but still. lol

That will be very awesome! Being that there is only 18 Chairman award winning teams, and not all of them are still teams (I would tell you how many if TBA was up, but im pretty sure they are making the changes), that is extremely rare to have in one competition!

I guess we will see on Saturday morning when the match schedule comes out . . .

Actually, now that I think about it, the winning alliance on Galileo in 2003 was comprised of 3 (now) Hall of Fame teams. 175 (2002), 236 (2009), and 341 (2010). At the time we were introduced as "The Chairman's Alliance", as Buzz had won it all the year before, and both 236 and 341 had RCAs that year.

Regardless, we are extremely fortunate in our area to have these nationally recognized role models in our region!

Team 2729 is also looking forward to attending the Philadelphia Regional, we're going to have some fun!

I just noticed this: The Philadelphia Regional now has 3 Championship Chairmans award teams! :ahh: Woah! I guess that just shows how competitive this regional is!

If I remember it correctly (and every year, it gets harder to remember...) at the Finger Lakes Regional in 2008 there were three Chairman's Award teams, and people thought that it was the first time that had happened. The teams were X-Cats, MOE, and I can't remember the third. The three were never paired together in a match though.

There was a picture taken of the three teams together but I couldn't find it.

Or is my memory playing tricks?

(This is getting far afield from the thread topic)

Hey guys, don't hate on Temple! It's a great place!

Just wondering, has anyone made a flyer for the Philadelphia Regional yet? Two years ago, my brother and I spread the word, and got a few professors and faculty from Temple to come, and I was planning on trying to expand on that a little bit. I know of at least 3-4 professors in the Computer Science department who work on robotics, and would love to come and see the robots.

In all, I think the Philly Regional is one of the best in the country. Not only is it in Philly, but we have some of the best teams and the best competition. My first year (2008) I stayed with the team and watched the final rounds, and last year I was the last member of the team there when the final rounds ended, and I do not plan to leave early this year!

Good luck everyone, and can't wait to see you there!!

I think the Philly regional moving back to Temple like it was on my freshman year has its goods and bads. The Liacouras Center does have a lot more room then Drexel, and I think that is a big plus. I think Drexel had only 9x9 pits, but I might be wrong. I did like the location of Drexel (I thank my dad for pointing out all the places you can get food there, he went to Drexel and all himself), but it wasn't hard to find food at Temple either. Overall, it really is the being in the city feel of Drexel vs the in the outskirts but a nice location of Temple. Either way, we will all have fun.

272 Will be in Philly as always. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

You can forget about Drexel at least for the near future. Its a combination of things including Drexel's new "management". We also recently lost a huge advocate of FIRST at Drexel and the powers that be in my opinion lack his vision. Plus with us moving to a regionized system similar to Michigan's. Drexel is probably to big/expensive for the mini 2 1/2 day qualifiers and to small for the regions championship.

However I will always have such fond memories of Drexel. 2008 anyone....Yes it still haunts me :)

357 as well is really looking forward to another awesome Philly Regional!!
I am however disappointed that it will be at Temple this year :( .. I know temple is bigger, but Drexel just gave of such a unique experience, and the excitement there was the most of any regional I have gone to. No matter what it will still be a great time!

The Firebirds are super excited for Philly this year!

We will once again be hosting our "Firebirds Fiesta" team social Friday night, April 8th. All teams are invited, and admission is only $5.

Attached is a flier with info, and we'll be posting updates here on CD, and we'll also be making tons of announcements at the competition.
