[FTC]: Magnetic Sensor Offset

Does anyone have a good understanding for the magnetic value offset?

My current understanding is that when I plug the Magnetic Sensor in and boot-up the nxt, it reports a value of around 32, other times 58. I'm imagining, that I would want to offset those numbers down to below 10. But i'm not sure why I would do that, rather then simply test if the value has changed by significant amount and program accordingly.

If people are using offsets, What values are you using? If not, what thoughts do you have on the magnetic sensor?

Thanks.

Re: [FTC]: Magnetic Sensor Offset

Nevermind. Figured it out.

Our magnetic sensor reports a value of -5. If you offset -5, it then reports a value of 0 if we offset 50 it reports -55.

Sweet.
