Looks like we may be dodging some snow, hopefully? We had a few more inches this past weekend, but also some rain, and one "weather event" that was rain at the high school that turned to snow as I was driving home one evening.

One silly question: the pits and the field are all in the same space? (I think I remember a youtube video that showed this.) We have to decide for our usual "Shipping Dept!" high cart (yes, it says that on the side; somebody was excited about it years ago), or our low-rider garden cart. I think we can manage robot carrying in and out of the building, but not a pit-field-pit transfer.
It's a bit of a tough call to make. The pits and the field are directly next to each other, separated by a large curtain, in the same building. However, you might have some issues with height using a tall cart because of FLR's wire management system - they use a couple constructed "doorways" to lift all the wires out of peoples way. Our team's cart has gotten the robot caught on that doorway several times before, so if you have a tall robot, you'll likely have to lift it off the cart and carry it under the doorway on your way to the pits.
If you like the height of the taller cart (and we do for ours, it makes us a nice workbench), then you'll just have to deal with doing the pit-field transfer every time.

You guys don't even have half the amount of snow Rochester gets (we average over a hundred per year. We're up to 91 inches so far this year). Boston averages around 40ish. It's that stupid snow machine to our North that keep making more of that annoying white stuff almost every day of our winter.
There are lots of resteraunts near RIT because there is a mall area very nearby.
Sadly both the Knighthawks and Amerks are on the road so go there. Thursday I plan on going to Laserquest so you guys are free to tag along (usually only members of 229 take me up on the offer with a few members from 1511 and others as well). Nothing else really comes to mind for entertainment.

229 is always game for laserquest...if you can keep up with us! :p

We were more worried that there was a standard 7-foot door between the pits and field. Our robot is near the max height allowed. Have to check again this afternoon for the height.

The wire overhang for the curtain and back area is usually much higher and I'm not too concerned with it (unless people at RIT think we're all incredibly small). (Though re-reading Dan's message, now I'm not sure.)

As for the Laserquest -- have your people call our people. ;) I'm sure we'll get some of us going. (Insert generic high school aged chest-thumping vague threats here.) I personally won't be keeping up with anyone at this... :o

Yes. Laserquest is a good idea.

The frame "doorways" from the field to the pits are very high. There would be no way you could have a cart -that- tall, however if your robot has an arm you would probably have to make sure the arm has folded down.

I'll be there for Saturday cheering on 1075 and our Canadian friends in 188, 843, 2056 (good luck on 9 straight), 2852, and 2994.

I'm expecting to show up around 10AM, assuming the border crossing goes well. Anybody know what crossing times are like southbound at Queenston-Lewiston at about 8:30 on a Saturday morning?

Word on the street is FLR is having field issues. Have these been resolved yet?
